During the second World War, part of the corner of the old fort was reused to construct the houses used to garrison the machine-gunners posted along the bays of Salga and das Mós. In 1962, then president of the Câmara Municipal de Angra, Manuel Coelho Baptista de Lima, obtained the concession from the Minister of War. At the time they projected the recuperation of the fort, that included landscaping and the creation of campground. Alongside the Fort of Salga, a similar re-purposing of military fortifications occurred, where they would create a picnic area.

Bob Kelly, a businessman and entrepreneur, had seen how people in the USA and England were renovating and re-purposing old factory buildings into spaces for cultural and artistic activities. In Denmark, DSB has rented 12 Desiro trains since 2002. The trains were originally used between Odense and Svendborg and between Odense and Fredericia, although they have since been moved to service on Lille Syd. On 2 July 2009 DSB signed a contract for eight trains from Siemens for Grenaabanen, with an option for 92 more.. The trains entered service on 12 December 2010, also servicing Odderbanen from December 2012. Grenaabanen and Odderbanen shut in 2016 for their re-purposing for a light rail network in Aarhus and its satellite towns.

The Plaquemine period saw the re-purposing and expansion of sites occupied during the Coles Creek period. Unlike Mississippian settlements which were often large nucleated villages, Plaquemine settlements were usually barely populated ceremonial civic centers whose only permanent residents were the elites and their families, priests, and their attendants and servants. The Northern Command Aerial Sensor Platform, also known as Operation Lowrider, is an American surveillance program intended to aid in combat against Mexican drug cartels, in effect since 2011. While the United States has long aided the Mexican government, the program marks a shift in US tactics. Re-purposing techniques and equipment honed in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, Lowrider employs manned, single engine surveillance planes that track the day- to-day movements of cartel personnel. The program created controversy as it employs private contractors to conduct surveillance, contracts awarded without bidding.

The Depression-era brick school building, retaining walls and stairs (1935–37) are a result of the Queensland Government's building and relief work programs during the 1930s that stimulated the economy and provided work for men unemployed as a result of the Great Depression. The 1923 timber building, adapted in 1936 for vocational training, demonstrates the pattern of relocating and re-purposing buildings at Queensland schools. It is the only surviving remnant of the earlier timber school complex at Milton State School. The World War I Honour Board (1916) is important in demonstrating the school community's involvement in a major world event.

More than a decade before the last of the Shakers left in 1947, they set in motion plans for a school. In 1932, the school opened its doors, re-purposing many of the original Shaker buildings as classrooms, meeting, dining, and athletic facilities, and dormitories for both students and teachers. Following World War II, a large number of veterans matriculated under the G.I. Bill, leading the largest student body in history. This influx of students necessitated some re-purposing of Old Main's facilities, including the chapel which was converted to a dining room. With the advent of Soviet ICBMs and the bomber threat reduced in importance, the tower was decommissioned in 1963 and demolished shortly thereafter. The Company was also asked to consider its national role as a promoter of equality and the broader protected characteristics. It was clear that whilst the festival clearly enjoyed strong support in Glasgow the need to spread the message of equality, particularly to outer-lying communities was the principal challenge. The Company agreed to enter a period of funding transition and the board took the bold step of retiring the festival and renaming the charity, rebranding and re-purposing the mission. In the late 1960s, station members began to augment the normal decor of a college radio station by writing and drawing on the walls. These graffiti gave the station an even more enigmatic feel, and by 2000 nearly every inch of the facility had been "personalized" in one form or another. In 2002 (see below), the station was forced to move to the new University Union after Binghamton University decided they were re- purposing the original Union building. Newly remodeled stairs in 1927 By 1926, the Old Gym was deemed too cramped for its athletic purposes and the Board of Trustees developed a plan to build a new gymnasium facility "squares from the campus" and to convert the Old Gym into a memorial hall in honor of President Moffat. Whole the Old Gym was renovated, the re-purposing plans did not come to fruition. In the fall of 1927, the interior of the gym was gutted and reinforced with face-brick and the gym floor was reconstructed. The steel rods supporting the gallery and running track were replaced and reinforced with large iron girders.

Illustrated under the Latin title Capiens capior (the preyer become prey), it shows a sparrow hawk perched on a hare with an arrow through its own neck.

The Institute proposed using unmanned aerial vehicles to patrol the Republic of Ireland – Northern Ireland border issue post-Brexit. The solution, which by the report's own admission faced issues around cost and bad weather, was criticised – the Daily Telegraph describing it as being "held up to ridicule". On May 7, 2014, Georgia State announced its intentions to purchase Turner Field and the surrounding parking lots after the Atlanta Braves announced that they would move to the new SunTrust Park in Cobb County, west of Atlanta. This would include re-purposing Turner Field into a 30,000 seat stadium that would house the Georgia State Football program as well as the school's soccer programs. It would also include rebuilding a baseball stadium in the footprint of the old Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium that was knocked down after the 1996 Summer Olympics. On January 11, 2010 the PRC directed another SC-19 (雙城-19) missile at a moving target and destroyed it. This time the target was a CSS-X-11 medium- range ballistic missile launched from Shuangchengzi Space and Missile Center. The M-10003 through M-10006 represented the final development of the custom streamlined trainset on the Union Pacific. They followed the cab/booster unit concept pioneered with the M-10002 trainset. As totally separable and interchangeable cab/booster power sets, they set the path that EMC was to follow with introduction of their E series locomotive sets the following year. Union Pacific was able to maintain daily service on the Chicago-Denver run for seventeen years by dedicating three locomotive sets to that service and re- purposing power units from M-10001 and M-10004 (three total) to provide additional power and keep at least two of the locomotive sets in running condition at any given time.

The grounds were originally slated to be a correctional facility, Wingdale Prison, but complaints by the local population caused a re- purposing of the buildings (under construction) into a state hospital. ISIL adheres to global jihadist principles and follows the hard-line ideology of al-Qaeda and many other modern-day jihadist groups, which is closely related to Wahhabism. According to The Economist, dissidents in the former ISIL capital of Raqqa report that "all 12 of the judges who now run its court system ... are Saudis". Saudi practices also followed by the group include the establishment of religious police to root out "vice" and enforce attendance at salat prayers, the widespread use of capital punishment, and the destruction or re- purposing of any non-Sunni religious buildings. Bernard Haykel has described ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's creed as "a kind of untamed Wahhabism".

By placing “...political information into environments where people are less accustomed to finding it…” articulates member Avram Finkelstein, catches the viewer off guard, revealing a new vocabulary and a new perspective on the AIDS health crisis. However, others have questioned the validity of such claims, and believe it to be a revisionist attempt to re- cast history as traditional Kashmiri Hindu historians, such as Kalhana, Jonaraja and Shuk Bhatt make no mention of the existence of any temple at the site of the structure. The counterclaim stemming from the fact that a Hindu religious site also exists adjacent to the shrine and the historians have suggested that the two sites have in fact always been adjacent to one another, their proximity being representative of communal tolerance. Kashmiri Hindus have also historically held the Khanqah in high reverence. Archaeologist R.C. Kak in Ancient Monuments of Kashmir and historian P. N. K. Bamzai in Culture and Political History of Kashmir while writing about the Khanqah, do not altogether mention anything about the possibility of the existence of a temple where the present structure stands. Historian Ashiq Husain Bhat further argues that re-purposing of Hindu shrines into Muslim ones wouldn’t have been unusual, given that the overwhelming majority of Kashmiris converted to Islam, and a similar conversion of the site into a church would occur were Kashmiris to convert en masse to Christianity.

Griffiths House was originally designed to be a hostel for young single people who had moved to Alice Springs for work, but by the time it was opened on 5 July 1941, plans had already changed, it was immediately converted in to a social club for soldiers stationed in Alice Springs. This club, which also housed the wives of servicemen permanently stationed in the town, was known as "The Inter-Church Services Club and Hostel". Following the end of World War II, in 1945, the hostel was turned into Griffiths House with the new purpose of housing children from more remote areas who were attending school in Alice Springs. The Hostel was named Griffiths House after the Reverend Harry Griffiths, and his wife Dorothy, who worked for the Methodist Inland Mission, and were instrumental in both originally building and the re-purposing of the site. In 1945 a flood of applications were received from families around the region and the first children to move in were Earl Reidy from Henbury Station, Janice Coulson from Aileron Station and two members of the Coulthard family from Kulgera. By 1946 there were 42 children living there from as far away as Wyndham and Darwin and Griffiths House struggled to meet demand.
