The United States Coast Guard (USCG) had developed a faster 44-foot motor lifeboat which planed across the water with a reduced contact area and therefore could move much faster. The RNLI obtained one in 1964. This led to the introduction of the Waveney-class into service in 1967.
EZ-Poly is good to use with concrete, wood, stone and other porous materials and can be used with etched plastics, metals and glass. The product is waterproof and weatherproof. It can be painted with plastic- compatible paint and is best used with a shellac primer. According to the inventory of 1974, the dimensions of the door of the tsässon were 1.40 m x 1.65 m, which is rather questionable, as the doorway is much smaller now. Pentre Bach ("Little Village") is a Welsh language television programme for young children, shown on S4C as part of the daily Planed Plant ("Children's Planet") sequence. The series is based on the characters created by Mary Vaughan Jones, the main character is Sali Mali. It first aired on 6 September 2004. It is filmed in the village of Blaenpennal, which lies some 14 miles (22.5 km) south of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion.
The interior of the house retains most of its original design elements, which include hand-planed railings and windows. The mantel designs were based on Adamesque models in patternbooks, and include hand-carved details and entablatures. The house is based on a central floor plan, rather than a parlor hall floor plan which was more typical of the period. A frame storage shed built sometime around 1825 still stands a few feet behind the house.
The tops were notched for the floor joists. The frame was made from milled cedar lumber using square nails. The walls were formed from vertical rough- sawn 1"x12" cedar planks planed smooth on the edges to allow a tight seam.
Regularly throughout the open section of the floor are substantial square planed stop-chamfered rendered masonry columns. The rear offices are formed with plaster rendered walls and feature similar coffered ceiling framing. The upper floor is accessed via a concrete stair in the southern tower, dating from the early 1940s. An open balcony on the first floor acts as an entrance vestibule to the courtroom which is entered via a double timber door.
The entrance is flanked by sidelight windows and topped by a transom. The wood used in construction is virgin cypress, some of it planed to a width of . The house was built on land acquired by Robert Harris in 1853, part of which was granted by President John Quincy Adams. The land was still in the hands of Harris' descendants in 1976, when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In a press release, S4C announced that the plan would be eventually for Cyw to launch as a standalone channel. This was believed likely to occur during the switchover to DVB and DTT in the UK, which took place between 2007 and 2012. However, the launch never took place, and Cyw still remains as a block on S4C Stwnsh has since replaced Planed Plant, providing two hours' worth of programmes, every weekday evening.

They are claimed to have been introduced to Madeira following its discovery in c. 1420 and spread widely in Europe in the 16th century. Prior to the invention of the sawmill, boards were rived (split) and planed, or more often sawn by two men with a whipsaw, using saddleblocks to hold the log, and a saw pit for the pitman who worked below. Bernard Lance Cairns (born 10 October 1949) is a former all-rounder who played for the New Zealand cricket team, and is the father of New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns. He was also known for the unusual bat he played with throughout much of his career. Known as "Excalibur", the shoulders of the bat were planed down to form a conical rather than rectangular shape. Cairns was a swing bowler with an unorthodox 'front on' action.
Johnsville Meetinghouse, also known as Johnsville Old German Baptist Meetinghouse, is a historic Old German Baptist Brethren meeting house located near Catawba, Roanoke County, Virginia. It was built in 1874, and is a simple, one story, one room building with five bays and a partial basement. It has a metal gable roof and features hand-planed clapboard siding and handmade window frames and glass. and Accompanying photo It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
The eight caissons at the interior of the lot are cylindrical and made of steel plates with a reinforced cutting edge and a concrete deck. The thirteen caissons at the lot's perimeter are rectangular and have four vertical sides made of planed timbers; they have a chamfered wooden cutting edge with steel reinforcement. The tops of the caissons were covered by horizontal lagging supported on falsework. The perimeter caissons were situated close together so as to make the foundation waterproof.
It is made on the same principle as the clock designed by Edmund Beckett, 1st Baron Grimthorpe for the great clock at Westminster and the large clock at Worcester Cathedral. The cost was about £331 (equivalent to £ in ), and was the gift of the widow and family of the late Benjamin Walters. The frame is cast iron, horizontal and planed. The Camp One incline was used to lower logs to the Merced River at El Portal from the logging area. One of the stops on the Yosemite Valley Railroad line was the lumber mill built by the Yosemite Lumber Company where the wood was planed, finished, dried and stored. The Haugh House is a two-story, Greek-Revival lodge I-house residential building with a standing-seam gabled roof, wrapped in weatherboard, built about 1855. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 18, 2011. It is in the center of the Cross Keys Battlefield in Rockingham County, Virginia. It has six-over-six windows with double-hung wooden sash, exposed floor and ceiling joists, a large center hall, original, interior chambered moldings and hand-planed partition walls.
Fortunes improved modestly during the 1920, reaching a peak employment of 14 men in 1927. Slab from the quarry was roughly shaped and planed in the Cymerau Mill, before being shipped out by the Ratgoed Tramway to Aberllefenni, then the Corris Railway to Machynlleth, before being transferred to the main line and shipped to Groeslon for finishing and enamelling. Cymerau continued its limited production during the 1930s. By the outbreak of the Second World War the quarry was down to just 6 men employed.
The sawmills also supported related industries such as mills that planed and smoothed the lumber; factories that built sashes, doors, and windows; and manufacturers of shingles and wooden buckets. The flour milling industry, dating back to the Fort Snelling government mill, later eclipsed the lumber industry in the value of its finished product. Flour production stood at in 1860, rising to in 1869. Cadwallader C. Washburn's imposing mill, built in 1866, was six stories high and promoted as the largest mill west of Buffalo, New York.
The track consists of stress- relieved, planed steel plates individually adjusted to produce a track that is flat to about 1/64 inch (0.4 mm). The southwest side hip rafters of fir wood roof of the plant had moisture damage due to leaking roof shingles. Historians James Allen and Glen Leonard made note of the dedication shown by the pioneers in Southern Utah. The workers opened new rock quarries, cut, hauled and planed timber, and donated one day in ten as tithing labor. Some members donated half their wages to the temple, while others gave food, clothing and other goods to aid those who were working full- time on the building. Although the Grapevine Mountains were uplifted relatively recently, most of the rocks that make up the range are over half a billion years old. The gray rocks lining the walls of the western end of Titus Canyon are Cambrian age (570–505 million years old) limestone. These ancient Paleozoic rocks formed at a time when the Death Valley area was submerged beneath tropical seas. By the end of the Precambrian, the continental edge of North America had been planed off by erosion to a gently rounded surface of low relief.
While timber was cut, it was not always shifted due to the lack of roads and steepness of the terrain. Scott bought 500 1861 United States half dollars from a New York bank that were supposedly struck at the New Orleans Mint. Scott had the reverse of the half dollars planed down and performed a one-sided strike using the Confederate half dollar die. The Seated Liberty obverse of the coins were flattened some because of the one- sided strike. In addition, Scott struck 500 half dollar sized tokens in white metal using the Confederate die and a newly made die to commemorate the restrikes of the Confederate half dollars.
It was built on a brick foundation in timber construction and, like the main entrance building, had double-layered walls. Inside, the surfaces were nailed with tubular fabric to which plaster and lime mortar were applied. The lower wall surfaces in the waiting and service rooms, up to 1.5 metres above the floor, were given a coating of planed board instead of plaster. Successori Le Monnier, 1870 As observed by art historian Carl Strehlke, the pointed shortening of the upper edges and the low viewpoint of the Virgin's abdomen are all indications that the paintings composition had originally possessed different dimensions. The sides of the panel seem to have been planed and the lower edge cut. It remains unknown exactly where Domenico was residing during the time that he was painting this piece. Three possible locations are Siena, Florence or Perugia, for there are no documents that record commissions Domenico had received outside of these three mentioned locations.
The mast, which lacks shroud and bar, is hollow case and consists of glued wood with a hoisted (a planed or machined grooved) luff. The relatively coarse mast is supported by simple ball bearings at deck fitting and in the bottom. The sails are hoisted and hauled usually only once, in spring and autumn. During the season the sail(s) are wound up on the mast by this rotated by a crank in the cockpit which drives an endless rope on a collar attached to the lower part of the mast.

The topography of eastern Massachusetts was determined most by the fact that, at the maximum glaciation of the Pleistocene Era, it was the site of the edge of the last glaciation, at approximately 18,000 BC. This glacier had planed the land under it nearly flat. Gravel- and boulder-lined streams ran along its surface. From 18,000 to about 10,000 BC, the glacier receded, dropping its stony contents as eskers and moraines, the dominant features of the region. It was to be Conjectural drawing of the First Boston Town-House, as sketched in 1930. The wood frame building was completed and occupied in 1658 and destroyed in the great fire on the night of October 2–3, 1711, though a sketch was drawn in 1930 based on the original specifications. This shows an open-walled public market (a traditional medieval form) on the ground floor. Three rows of seven stout posts supported the upper stories, which were walled by broad planks three inches (76 mm) thick, "well grooved into one another" and planed smooth on both sides.
The Phillips Brothers Mill, is a sawmill and box factory in Shasta County, California near Oak Run, California, was built(?) in 1933. It is notable for all production machinery powered by stationary steam engines, little changed since it was first constructed. The mill produces both rough-sawn and planed lumber from locally harvested trees, and the adjoining box factory originally produced packing crates for fruit growers, but now produces decorative boxes for a variety of customers, and gift items for sale at the mill. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
With the building of sawmills along the many rivers, European boat building methods began to be adopted. Canoes, rowboats, skiffs, and other small boats began to be made with wooden planks, often of cedar, which resists rotting better than most other types of wood. Planing with the grain Planing against the grain Planing wood along its side grain should result in thin shavings rising above the surface of the wood as the edge of the plane iron is pushed forward, leaving a smooth surface, but sometimes splintering occurs. This is largely a matter of cutting with the grain or against the grain respectively, referring to the side grain of the piece of wood being worked. The grain direction can be determined by looking at the edge or side of the work piece. Wood fibers can be seen running out to the surface that is being planed.
Scattered wooden structures appear on the surrounding rural ridges, today part of central Stockholm. Though the phenomenon is said to have occurred in the morning, the city is depicted in the evening with shadows facing east.Weidhagen-Hallerdt, Vädersolstavlan i Storkyrkan, historisk bakgrund The wooden panel measures 163 by 110 centimetres (64 by 43 inches) and is composed of five vertical deals (softwood planks) reinforced by two horizontal dovetail battens. The battens, together with the rough scrub planed back, have effectively reduced warping to a minimum and the artwork is well preserved, with only insignificant fissures and attacks by insects.
The ordinary treble cornett is made by splitting a length of wood and gouging out the two halves to make the gently conical, curved bore. The halves are then glued together, and the outside planed to an octagonal cross section, the whole being bound in thin black leather. Six front finger holes and a thumb hole on the back (like on the recorder) are bored in the instrument, and are slightly undercut. The socket for the mouthpiece at the narrow end is reinforced with a brass with pp collar, concealed by an ornamental silver or brass mount.
Care and Maintenance Winding sticks are generally planed parallel back to back to ensure they are true; this is why it is important to use the sticks with the inlay facing one another. Winding sticks are not dependent on being the same height along their length; the critical element is that they are parallel to each other and then used in that configuration. Every workshop has a different climate, and therefore it is advisable to check from time to time that your sticks are still true. If it is found that they require adjustment, it's a straightforward task to correct.

In 2009, he became presenter for afternoon magazine show Wedi 3 and studio director for Planed Plant, the current S4C children's continuity strand.
In the early 1880s, conditions grew so bad that the constables at Fort Macleod issued a manifesto to their officers demanding improvements to their living conditions. Gradual improvement began to be made in the 1880s and 1890s; the later police barracks lost the title of "fort" and were professionally assembled, made from planed lumber, often prefabricated in the east, and fitted with modern technology and iron beds. Canteens, reading rooms and sporting facilities were introduced at the larger barracks. Nonetheless, living conditions on the prairies remained difficult and spartan, and mosquitoes, lice and bed bugs were major irritants.

Ultimately, the Falkland Mountains eroded almost completely away, but the Cape Fold Mountains had, by this time, become buried under the Karoo sediments. Being composed largely of quartzitic sandstone, they resisted subsequent erosion, when continental uplifting caused several kilometers of Southern Africa's surface to be planed away, and thus persist to this day as the Cape Fold Belt. The remnant of the Falkland Plateau broke away from Africa, and drifted south-westwards to its present position in the western South Atlantic Ocean, following the breakup of Gondwana about 150 million years ago.
Metal bolts passing through wood framing to a metal fastening on the other side were usually fastened in non-threaded ways (such as clinching or upsetting against a washer). Maudslay designed a tool holder into which the cutting tool would be clamped, and which would slide on accurately planed surfaces to allow the cutting tool to move in either direction. The slide rest was positioned by a leadscrew to which power was transmitted through a pair of changeable gears so that it traveled in proportion to the turning of the work. This allowed screw threads to be precisely cut.

The Old Schoolhouse is located on the west side of Lindsay Street a short way south of its junction with York Street (United States Route 1A), just outside the center of the village of York. It stands adjacent to the Jefferds Tavern and the visitor center of the Old York Historical Society, which stands at the street corner. The schoolhouse is a small wood frame structure with a gable roof covered in wooden shingles, with exterior walls clad in clapboards. The interior is quite plain, with wide hand-planed floorboards, a fireplace at one end, a small section of plastered wall, and a few small windows.
Rehoboth Church is a vernacular structure, designed using the log framing construction techniques utilized by early settlers in the western reaches of the Virginia Colony. The interior of the church is dominated by the raised pulpit, fashioned from planed timber which allows maximum visibility to both the nave and the galleries. Three sides of the church are lined with galleries which offer additional seating (used as a slave gallery during the antebellum period). A steep fixed ladder in the southwest corner of the nave provides access to the galleries, which are supported by two massive log pillars and small braces set in the side and rear walls of the church.
Rainbow Ridge () is a small ridge which forms a distinct western rim to the large crater-like depression high in the central part of Brown Peninsula, in Victoria Land in Antarctica. Given this geologically descriptive name by the New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee (NZ-APC), it arose from investigations by the New Zealand Geological Survey and the Victoria University Expedition in 1964–65. The top of the ridge has been planed off by subsequent glaciation and the resultant surface exposes two basalt "pipes" (Nubian Formation) within the trachyte. These have altered the trachyte at their margins to various shades of brown, hence the name of the ridge.
The cutting blades are adjusted to match the height and pitch of (& made square to) the outfeed table. The work piece to be planed flat is placed on the infeed table and passed over the cutter head to the outfeed table, with care taken to maintain a constant feed speed and downward pressure. The cutter head contains two or more knives which are honed to a very sharp edge. The knives are arranged radially in the cylindrical cutter head such that their cutting edges protrude from the cutter head so that they will come into contact with the board being cut as the cutter head spins.
Both the commoners' houses and the aristocracy's omo sebua have bowed galleries underneath the large overhanging eaves. Presumed to have been inspired by the bulbous sterns of Dutch galleons, they provided a defensive vantage point, and in times of peace, a ventilated and comfortable place from which to observe the street below. The interiors are built from planed and polished hardwood boards - often ebony - that are slotted into each other using tongue and groove joinery. The Advent Christian Church is a historic church building in John Day, Oregon, United States. Lay minister and carpenter Samuel Bayliss Hope led the members of the local Advent Christian Church congregation in construction starting in 1898 and reaching effective completion in 1900. The church combined the overall Gothic Revival plan and form that remained popular for churches in that period with the rich ornamentation of the Victorian era, especially around the entry and steeple.
