It is well known that when Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim wished to develop Johor, he had few resources at his disposal. Johor then consisted of vast tracts of dense jungle and rivers were the only means of access into the interior. When he opened Johor to the Chinese, the Ngee Heng gained a dominant position among the Chinese there.

Its front facade has three bays, with sash windows flanking a minimally adorned entrance flanked by wide moulding and topped by a cornice. Murwillumbah sign The Pacific Highway passed through South Murwillumbah, but the town was completely bypassed when the 27 kilometre dual carriageway Yelgun to Chinderah upgrade was opened in August 2002. The Pic Sans Nom (3,913 m) (Nameless Peak) is a mountain in the Massif des Écrins in the French Alps. It lies in the middle of the steep mountain mass that runs south-west from Mont Pelvoux to the Ailefroide. Its steep and extensive northern precipices are bounded by the Glacier Noir; its southern slopes, providing the only relatively easy means of access, are bounded by the Glacier du Coup de Sabre and the Glacier de Sialouze. The Pic du Coup de Sabre (3,699 m) to its south-west is considered part of the Pic Sans Nom.

During the walk the villages of Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar are visible, waterfalls can be seen and flora such as Pride of Madeira (Echium nervosum) and Madeira mountain stock (Euphorbia piscatoria) can be viewed. This trail is one of the historic “municipal paths” on Madeira. These paths were the only means of access to villages such as Paul do Mar before roads were built. Also, it was cheaper to use the path for transporting goods rather than bringing them by sea which was more expensive and dangerous when the sea was rough in winter.
In 1890 the asylum experienced severe flooding as the Brisbane River rose to a height of , the highest level ever recorded. The entire male section was inundated; buildings, fences and other structures were seriously damaged and patients had to be re-located. The decision was made to abandon the low-lying area near the river where the main male section was located and consolidate it on higher ground where two wards had already been erected. The relocation brought the complex closer to the Main Line railway (opened in 1875), which replaced the river as the primary means of access to the hospital.

In the early 1870s, the Cassiar gold rush occurred in northern British Columbia. The Stikine River, (then spelled “Stickeen”) which reached the sea near Wrangell, Alaska was the principal means of access to the gold fields in northern British Columbia. On January 17, 1874, it was reported that “two well known gentlemen of Portland” had purchased Shoo Fly to take it to the Stikine River, and further, these men were arranging to build another light-draft steamer for the same purpose. Despite this report, there appears to have been no attempt ever to transfer Shoo Fly to the Stikine.
Route 116 is the camp's primary means of access. For camping purposes, Ingersoll is often divided into two parts: "Main Camp," which consists of the developed area west of Lake Roberts used for most camp programs; and the "East Side," the large undeveloped area east of Lake Roberts with minimal road and trail access used primarily for hiking. The 14-mile Cedar Creek Trail follows the periphery of the entire camp. Gwambygine Pool on the Avon River Historically, Gwambygine Homestead is linked inextricably to the permanent Pool, Gwambygine Pool, in the Avon River that runs past the property at the eastern side of the Homestead. The Homestead is a typical Colonial rural farmhouse ; single-depth rooms accessible from verandas along both sides. The verandas provided shelter and protection, and a means of access to the rooms that formed the amenity of the homestead, sitting room, bedrooms, kitchen, storerooms, farm office, and so on. Gwambygine, with its high-pitched roof and shady verandas, conforms to the early pattern for rural Western Australian houses.
Lifts are present at Pokesdown station but are now disused albeit with evidence of their former existence still in place. A campaign involving the local MP Tobias Ellwood which began calling for the restoration of lifts at the station appears to have been successful with the winning bidders for the South Western Franchise, South Western Railway, required to install new lifts by 31 December 2019. However, this date has been pushed back to at least September 2020 because of difficulties accessing the disused lift shafts safely. Until lift access is restored, the only means of access to Pokesdown's platforms is via stairs from the bridge.
In 2003, English Heritage secured £500,000 from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund and from the EU's Interreg programme under the Historic Fortifications Network, as administered by Kent County Council. The Bad Pass Trail, also known as the Sioux Trail, was established by Native Americans on the border of present-day Montana and Wyoming as a means of access from the Bighorn Basin in Wyoming to Bison-hunting grounds in the Grapevine Creek area of Montana. Marked by stone cairns, the trail led across Bad Pass and was established in pre-Columbian times. After Europeans arrived in the area it was frequented by fur trappers and mountain men, beginning in 1824. Trappers assembled pack trains at the junction of the Shoshone River and the Bighorn River, using the Bad Pass Trail to avoid Bighorn Canyon.
The Brescia Metro () is a light metro network serving Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. The network comprises a single line, having a length of and a total of 17 stations from Prealpino to Sant´Eufemia-Buffalora, located respectively at the north and southeast of Brescia. During the 1980s, road congestion in the vicinity of Brescia rose dramatically, resulting in the City Council becoming interested in the adoption of a new mass transit platform to provide an alterative means of access around the city. Following studies of several mass transit systems, it was decided that the development of a light metro would be the most suitable option.
One of the entrances into Santa Fe Santa Fe from La Mexicana Park Park near outer limits of Santa Fe Santa Fe is one of Mexico City's major business districts, located in the west part of the city in the alcaldías (boroughs) of Cuajimalpa and Álvaro Obregón. The Paseo de la Reforma avenue and Constituyentes avenue are the primary means of access to the district from the central part of Mexico City. Santa Fe consists mainly of highrise buildings surrounding a large shopping mall, Centro Santa Fe, which is currently the largest mall in Latin America. The district also includes a residential area and three university campuses, among other facilities.
The primary means of access to the region from areas in north and south Trinidad are the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway and the Southern Main Road. Also, a route between Chaguanas and Rio Claro, in the form of the Caparo Valley Brasso Road and the Tabaquite Rio Claro Road, runs diagonally through the region. There is no strong road link with areas to the east of the region. The Couva/Preysal flyover was previously one of the most congested flyovers in the country, and the main access point to and from the highway, but has undergone an extensive upgrade (completed in March 2012) and significantly alleviated these problems.
That route caused controversy amongst local residents. The inability to extend the trail north means that it cannot reach Groombridge and link with the Forest Way, another footpath and bridleway following the route of a disused railway line. Numerous reports have been prepared which identified various routes which would connect with the Forest Way, from a Sustrans report in 1995, to three Owen Williams reports in 1998 and 1999, and finally an Atkins feasibility study in 2006, which confirmed that reusing the old railway line would be the best way forward, with the alternative on-road route as a short-term means of access to Groombridge.
Like most of the stations on the route, Knottingley station has lost its main buildings and now only has standard waiting shelters on each of its two remaining platforms. Digital display screens, timetable posters and customer help points are located on both sides to offer train running information. Both platforms are signalled for use in either direction, so it is advisable to check the display screens prior to travel to determine which one is being used for a particular train. Step-free access is only available to platform 2 from the car park - the footbridge to platform 1 has stairs and is the only means of access to it.
One theory is that it was provided on the request of the Duke of Grafton whose lived at nearby Salcey Lawn. As with Stoke Bruerne station, an imposing brick station building was provided which became the home to employees of the railway until the line's closure. The short approach road to the station ran to what is no more than a simple bridle path from what is now the B526 from Northampton to Newport Pagnell. The station never justified a more significant means of access as it never saw much traffic, and its provision seems to have been an error of judgement by the STMJ.
The means of access between the floors within the main range have been obscured or lost through later alterations. The original Phase 1 service staircase remains to the rear of the east wing but has no counterpart within the principal wing. The roof construction over the main range has either surviving fabric or evidence for purlins that extended across the full length of the house in its original format. The inclusion of such continuous horizontal members indicates that no stair turret could have been included at the rear of the house to allow access to the upper floors and garrets as this would have been severely impeded by the purlin height.

His objective was to sell the land and water rights south of the canal; he decided to name the area "Glendale". Murphy had to raise capital from out-of-state sources in order to meet payroll and construction expenses. In order to develop and interest potential investors and settlers in the new town, Murphy decided to provide a better means of access between Phoenix, Glendale, and the neighboring town of Peoria by building an diagonal road which he named Grand Avenue.

Blocked by the Herodian construction, this was an earlier aqueduct that once fed one of the cisterns underneath the Temple Mount enclosure itself. The aqueduct has been attributed to the Hasmoneans, though an earlier Ptolemaic association cannot be ruled out. With a floor 3 meters above the top of the pool, this passage would have remained dry at the time the pool was in use and may have been used as a secret means of access to the pool from the fortress or Temple Mount. Another passage exists north of the pool, though its relation to the pool or the southern passage is unknown.
The free ride on the people mover provides a connection to all four of the airline terminals. Owing to the weekday only operation and limited frequency offered by the North Central Service, the station is not currently a significant means of access for travelers to O'Hare. Strong promotion by the BC Paraplegic Association to revise the BC Building Code and eliminate stairs as the only means of access to public buildings proved successful in 1973, when the City of Vancouver introduced its new accessibility by-laws. For some time after the opening of the Brandling Junction railway, the shipment of coal was confined to Gateshead and Monkwearmouth. Shipping berths had been secured at South Shields, but the Brandling company could not get rail access to them until they upgraded and converted the gauge of the old Manor Wallsend waggonway of 1810, which was their only means of access. They were obliged to alter the whole waggonway, and to alter the wheels of the colliery waggons to suit the widened gauge. Some delay took place in the construction of the coal drops due to the exceptionally wet autumn of 1839. The company finally started shipping coal from South Shields on 5 February 1840.
Although all aspects of coasteering have been informally practised by people for a very long time, if only as a means of access to a cut-off cove beyond a headland, the term appears first to have been used in 1973. In 1851 a Select Committee enquired into the best means of access to the sea. Among the options a road tunnel was considered and rejected, one reason being that horses would catch cold coming from the hot plains into a cold tunnel. Instead a road via Evans Pass which is near the eastern end of the Port Hills, was selected to connect Sumner and Lyttelton, and was completed in 1857 at a cost of £30,000. Colonia Le Barón is located in the northwest of the state of Chihuahua, near the towns of Nuevo Casas Grandes, Colonia Juárez and Colonia Dublán. It lies thirteen kilometers (8 miles) south of the county seat of Galeana and twenty-one kilometers (13 miles) north of San Buenaventura, its main means of access from Mexican Federal Highway 10. Its geographical coordinates are 30 ° 00'45 "N 107 ° 34'03" W and is located at an altitude 1,480 meters (6,036 feet) above sea level. Such items may be natural and hardly processed (such as earth from the Holy Land), but majority of modern devotional articles are mass-produced (strips of paper with prayers, pictures of holy figures, prayer books, etc.) Such items are usually seen as having little artistic value, as their primary function is not decorative but spiritual. When the New Haven Colony was established in the 17th century, the Westville area was mainly agricultural, with Whalley Avenue providing the principal means of access from homes in the town center to those lands. Ring-type cairn at Balnauran of Clava The Clava cairn is a type of Bronze Age circular chamber tomb cairn, named after the group of three cairns at Balnuaran of Clava, to the east of Inverness in Scotland. There are about 50 cairns of this type in an area round about Inverness. They fall into two sub- types, one typically consisting of a corbelled passage grave with a single burial chamber linked to the entrance by a short passage and covered with a cairn of stones, with the entrances oriented south west towards midwinter sunset. In the other sub-type an annular ring cairn encloses an apparently unroofed area with no formal means of access from the outside.
