In order to achieve their goal of creating a mono ethnic Tamil state in Northern Sri Lanka, the LTTE forcibly expelled the Muslim population at gunpoint from the Northern Province and confiscated their properties.The “liberation” of the east heightens the anxieties of the Muslim community about its role in the new scheme of things.
