Each of these walkways are bordered by London plane trees (platanus acerifolia), which contribute to the park's European feel. In addition, numerous statues are scattered throughout the park.

A large flagstone serves as a walk to the three front steps flanked by newel posts and railings. The main entrance doors are recessed slightly in their molded surround. They have an arched top panel with the lower corners cut out and a square lower panel with all the corners cut.

Boulder High School's building at 1604 Arapahoe Avenue was constructed in 1933 by the Works Project Administration. The facade is classic Streamline Moderne. The school's art deco auditorium has also been preserved. The building was constructed with "Colorado Red" flagstone and limestone, the same materials from which the University of Colorado is built.

On the interior, the entry leads to a small vestibule with a flagstone floor. From the vestibule another set of double doors leads to the nave. The nave has white plaster walls and ceiling, and a linoleum covered floor. Eleven rows of pews are set on each side of a central aisle.

Flinders Lakes is part of the development corridor south of Brisbane in the Greater Flagstone development area. The origin of the suburb name is based upon the views of nearby Mount Flinders. Flinders Lakes was designated as a locality within Logan City by the Department of Natural Resources and Mines in May 2016.

The fort became a hotel in 1964. In 1979, the devastating Hurricane David destroyed a significant part of the remains of the fort. The courtyard of the hotel retains the original flagstone walkways. Sand and gravel for construction are a major mineral resource in the Denver Basin. Flagstone Bench () is a large rock bench which is littered with flaggy slabs of sandstone, bordering the southeast sides of Radok Lake and Beaver Lake in the Prince Charles Mountains of Antarctica. It was visited by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions survey parties in 1957 and 1958; the descriptive name was applied by the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia.

The Dury Memorial site is a small square park located on the north side of the D939 Route Nationale, south of Dury, between the cities of Arras and Cambrai. Tall, stately maple trees line three edges of the park and well kept lawns surround the low circular flagstone terrace that the granite memorial block rests on.

The De Mores Memorial Park in Medora, North Dakota was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The park is located in downtown Medora and is about in size. It includes a 1926 bronze statue of the Marquis de Mores, donated by his sons. A 1938 Works Progress Administration project created a flagstone courtyard.

The Richard S. Bolt Visitor Center at Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) was built in 1967, with an auditorium addition in the early 1980s. The building is cedar-sided with open, vaulted ceilings and flagstone floors. It houses exhibits, Okefenokee Wildlife League bookstore sales area, office space for staff and volunteers, storage, and a 100-seat surround-sound auditorium.

The remains of inter-connected circular houses are by the beach at Bòstadh, Bernera. They date from the Iron Age. A re-construction of this part sub- terranean habitation is located nearby. Intact remains of further pre-Norse houses with overlapping flagstone roofs known as "beehive dwellings" are to be found on the Morsgail Moor and at Aiscleit.

The lodge, completed in November 1934, replaced an older structure. It's flagstone patio was finished in July 1935. A memorial to U.S. Senator Jonathan P. Dolliver, for whom the park is named, was completed in May 1935. Other projects completed by the CCC include a latrine, footbridges, culverts, stone steps along a hiking trail, the trail itself, and roads.

Family housing set. The family settings, having four or five circular divisions, encircle a flagstone paved yard where the doors of the different divisions converged. These central yards had an important role in family life as the area where the daily family activities took place. These nuclei would be closed by key, granting privacy to families.

Geologists have found that it has a hardness and silica content not unlike granite, and its presence was the main reason for the growth of quarrying in Rossendale. Haslingden Flag is unique; two other, common types of flagstone ('rough rocks') are found throughout the Pennines, but a third type is found only in the local Haslingden Flags.

The black recalls the county's geology with the famous Caithness flagstone, while the gold and blue allude to the beaches and sea reinforcing the maritime nature of the county and its heritage. The house, being on high land, was not flooded and continued to stand unoccupied. In 1950, it was destroyed by fire under suspicious circumstances. Due to the historical significance of the structure, the lower part of the stone walls were preserved. Older metamorphic (granite) rock is apparent in the Scaraben and Ord area, in the relatively high southwest area of the county. Caithness' highest point (Morven) is in this area. Because of the ease with which the sandstone splits to form large flat slabs (flagstone) it is an especially useful building material, and has been used as such since Neolithic times.

Wooster Street in SoHo The Performing Garage in 2014 Wooster Street is a street in SoHo, Manhattan and Greenwich Village that runs south to north from Canal Street to Washington Square. It is a prime location for on-location filming and photo shoots due to its relatively low traffic, and the flagstone sidewalks and cobblestone street give it an old gritty feel.

Adjacent are the remains of two small buildings constructed with flagstone surfaces and stone pitched wall sections. The purpose of these structures is not evident, although they may have been lock-up stores. The camp comprises the remains of a corrugated iron shed and a stove and fridge. Several graves, including one with a headstone, are located in the proximity of the camp.

With funding from a Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) bond program, parts of the school were renovated or expanded in 2008. The changes include a remodeled ESL wing and counseling office, a new gymnasium, a larger administrative wing, and a bigger auditorium backstage. The Caballeruelos River is very irregular and every summer is almost dried up. It rises near the mountain ranges of the Flagstone and of Santiago. Numerous streams and springs flow into it (Rebollar, Bullicio, Gargantilla and others). The Caballeruelos finally ends the Tormes at the municipal term of Vallehondo after passing through Santa María de los Caballeros and San Lorenzo de Tormes.

There is a temple to Guan Yu, the Chinese god of war, beside the Dili Gate. There was also a frontier market between Yanmenguan Village and the Dili Gate. A flagstone path called "Frontier Trade Street" continues to be lined with hostels and various shops for tourists. Statues of the generals of the Yang Clan line one of the pathways of the site.

The exterior defensive walls were thicker. The surfaces of exterior walls were likely plastered to prevent erosion from rainfall, which could be heavy and intense in the winter and spring of the region. The plastering would have demanded a significant quantity of lime to be manufactured, which required a kiln. The floors were composed of beaten earth and flagstone pavement.

Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa is built of Berea Sandstone. Buildings constructed of Berea Sandstone include the Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa and the Brown County Courthouse in South Dakota. The Centre Block building of the Parliament of Canada, both before and after reconstruction, uses Berea Sandstone as window and door trim. Berea Sandstone has also been used as flagstone and for paving.

Maeshowe is one of the largest tombs in Orkney; the mound encasing the tomb is in diameter and rises to a height of .Childe 1952, p. 18 Surrounding the mound, at a distance of to is a ditch up to wide. The grass mound hides a complex of passages and chambers built of carefully crafted slabs of flagstone weighing up to 30 tons.

The main wing on the east side of the patio is two stories in height, and is where the main entrance and lobby space are located. The walls, built out of adobe and finished in cement stucco, vary in thickness between and . The main lobby space has flagstone floors, while more functional areas of the building have carpeted concrete floors.

In 2010 the entrance to a burial vault below the church was accidentally discovered. This occurred during a rehearsal in the church for the musical Quasimodo when an actress, Kathy Mills, dislodged a marble flagstone near the altar. Below this was the entrance to the vault. It led by a set of steps into a tunnel, with a chamber containing coffins.

O'Reillys Weir is located about upstream from the creek's confluence with the Brisbane River. Approximately upstream from the junction of Lockyer Creek and the Brisbane River is the Wivenhoe Dam. Tributaries flowing into Lockyer Creek include Flagstone Creek, Sandy Creek, Alice Creek, Laidley Creek, Tenthill Creek, Murphys Creek and Ma Ma Creek. Lower areas of the catchment have been cleared for intensive agriculture.

Jenkins' Town Lyceum Building, also known as Jenkintown Library, is a historic lyceum and library building located at Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The original building was built in 1839, and expanded in 1909–1910. It is a two-story, fieldstone building with a gable roof and a one- story rear wing and addition. It features a two-story, columned portico with a flagstone floor.

The upper floor can be accessed by an exterior staircase in the rear of the house. The garage, also steeply gabled, was the original living quarters for the Dixons while the main house was being constructed. Edith's studio is a vernacular one-story building with two rooms. The guesthouse was originally a log home with a flagstone extension added in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

Private Melvin's citation for the award of the Victoria Cross, as published in the Supplement to the London Gazette (dated 26 November 1917), states: His Victoria Cross is displayed at the Black Watch Museum (Perth, Scotland). Charles Melvin is commemorated with a plaque on Kirriemuir Town Hall, a carved flagstone in Kirriemuir's Cumberland Close, and a street called Charles Melvin Gardens, also in Kirriemuir.

Both of these structures are located on the east side of the lake. They are composed of roughly coursed limestone, and the boathouse includes a round tower at its south end. The sundial and bench are located south of the bathhouse on the east shore of the lake. The semi-circular, courses ashlar bench surrounds a flagstone patio, in the middle of which is the sundial.

In 1961, flagstone paving was added to the interior floor and the exterior entry patio area. The entire structure was renovated in 2003. Despite the changes required over the years, the National Park Service has been careful to maintain the rustic look of the building. The structures at the Ness of Brodgar are made of flagstone, a sedimentary rock found abundantly throughout Orkney.

The pool opened in 1945 and replaced the previously used spring-fed pool. A crack formed in the pool in the 1970s after the pool was in the city of Irondale's control and the pool was rendered unusable. The original building had a scale and balance on the roof as the symbol of justice, but they were removed in 1833 and replaced with a large bell. The construction cost of original building was approximately $3,000. Two large chimneys that accommodated the four fireplaces installed in both the upper and lower levels were closed up during later renovations. A wood floor covered the original flagstone floor.

On June 5, 1739, Jonathan Hager purchased 200 acres of land in the Great Appalachian Valley between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains in Maryland. This land is now part of Hagerstown City Park and downtown Hagerstown. Hager built the flagstone house on top of two freshwater springs and named the property, Hager's Fancy. The house was added to the National Historic Registry in 1974.

The living room flagstone floor blocks were individually tagged and removed. Blocks were joined to the concrete cantilever beams and floor joists; high- strength steel cables were fed through the blocks and exterior concrete walls and tightened using jacks. The floors and walls were then restored, leaving Fallingwater’s interior and exterior appearance unchanged. Today, the cantilevers have sufficient support and the deflection has stopped.

The handsome, flagstone-fronted structure required extensive repairs before the library could be opened. The library eventually outgrew this building. Construction of a new Cass County Library building, on a property, was completed in 1977. This is the marble plaque which has been placed on the right as patrons enter the library, to highlight that the building was a gift from Andrew Carnegie to the township.

The older structure dates back to the late 1830s and is a 2 1/2 story, Federal style house built of brick. It measures by . The exact date of construction is not known, but the date 1839 is carved into a flagstone in the front walk, and the style of construction is consistent with architecture in the late 1830s. The second building was built in 1891.

A bay is centered on the lakeward side of the platform, while bays stand at both landward corners. The central island was designed with formal plantings delineated by a grid of walkways. In the churchyard is a stone sundial from the late 18th century consisting of a vase baluster on a round step sitting on a square flagstone base with a copper dial and gnomon. Just outside the churchyard wall are stocks probably dating from the early 18th century. The churchyard also contains the war graves of six British servicemen, four of World War I and two of World War II.

One farm building nearby measured 53 by 14 m, with stone walls about 1.5 m thick; a turf outer bank provided further insulation. Inside, it had a flagstone floor. Flat stones — or, in one case, the shoulder- blade of a whale — formed the stalls. Some of these buildings still stood in 1953, contemporaneous with the Bluie West One airfield at Narsarsuaq, but today they exist mostly as depressions in the ground.

The garden layout was developed in the early 20th century, by Dr. Price, including laying down triangular and diamond shaped flagstone paths. The ornamental domes of box were planted in the 1920s. The early landscaping was expanded and planted starting in 1933 by Phyllis Reiss in an Arts and Crafts "Hidcote" style.

Along with its foundation, other remains included two stone plaques inscribed with "South Gate" and "Kowloon Walled City" from the South Gate and a flagstone path that had led up to it. The foundations of the city's wall and East Gate were also discovered. The Hong Kong government preserved the South Gate remnants next to a square in front of the yamen. The yamen building is made up of three halls.

Thirteen Kurgan stelae, never before seen in Anatolia or the Near East, were found in 1998 in their original location at the centre of Hakkari. This former store was operated as a cafe and milkbar until the early 1980s. Concrete footpaths and street gutters were laid by Freckleton during the early 1950s. Concrete retaining walls were erected around the early flagstone footpath outside the general store at this time. Harrow is a hamlet on the north coast of Caithness, Scotland. It lies just to the west of the Castle of Mey and northeast of the Loch of Mey. Harrow Harbour, also called Philips Harbour, was built in the 19th Century by the Earl of Caithness for exporting the local flagstone slabs. The harbour was restored in 1978-79 by the Highland Council and is used today by a few crab and lobster fishermen.

It is located immediately to the westPevsner, Nikolaus & Cherry, Bridget, The Buildings of England: Devon, London, 2004, p.834 of the parish church of Churston Ferrers, also next to the former home farm, and about 1/2 mile south of the coastline at Elberry Cove, which intervening ground now forms part of Churston Golf Course. It retains its original staircases, stone windows, oak panelling and flagstone floors.

The interior floor is flagstone, with a rustic bench built around the perimeter. The roof is supported by log rafters and finished in wooden shingles; in a distinctive flourish, the interior ceiling is finished in white birch logs arranged in a chevron pattern. The state began acquiring portions of Shade Swamp as a management area beginning in 1926. The shelter was built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, as part of a trail-building program into the underutilized area.

Part of it was used as a Tourist Information Office for a time, and the section of the building on the corner is used as a teashop. The earliest depiction of the Old Swan is an engraving of 1815 by the artist Paul Sandby Munn. The engraving shows a porch that has been jettied forward at first floor level with a sign showing a swan. The building on the left, which appears to be a stable and clearly shows the Flagstone covered roof.

The Lucas Valley community center and pool were also constructed by Eichler as a centerpiece of the neighborhood. The original subdivision of Marinwood consisted of streets to the North of Miller Creek Road and featured a blend of suburban single story ranch-style homes and two-story Cape Cod inspired homes. The streets were named so that all the names ended in 'stone'. Women with Crempogau at a traditional Shrove Tuesday Dance in Trewern (1940). The history of food in Wales is poorly documented, and much of what is known lies in verbal and archeological evidence. Wales has a long history of baking using a bakestone (Welsh: maen), a large round portable flatstone. The flagstone was replaced by a metal plate known as a (griddle), and these appeared among the list of objects made by blacksmiths in the Laws of Hywel Dda (13th century).

Jack's report also makes clear that there are coal seams in the region. A well sunk about 1878 between Werna and Ayrshire Downs, about 50 km north of Collingwood, struck two such seams, and otherwise yielded strata of grey sandstones and sandy shales with beds of argillaceous flagstone (which contained seashells) and sandstone with iron pyrites. The well also yielded forth many fragments of silicified and carbonised wood. The boring ended at 204 feet (62 m) in hard, fine-grained sandstone.

There is a significant increase in elevation (from south to north) in the courtyard, so that the terrain in the upper part of the manor courtyard is level with the main building vestibule and level with the second floor of the side wings. The bedrock is visible both on the surface in the lower courtyard, and in the transition area. Both the upper and lower courtyards are paved with flagstone. The steps connecting the levels were built in the 17th century.

In the 17th century, Charles Houël gave land to Dutch colonists driven out of Brazil, so that they could grow sugarcane there. After the abolition of chattel slavery in 1848, Indian indentured workers were hired to replace the plantation slaves. They built a temple in the Shangy district. Near the Bois Debout estate, on a small way leading to an underwood, a flagstone in the Cemetery of the Slaves, requires the visitors to "Honor and Respect" the memory of the slaves.

Bidzar archeological site towards Guider The Bidzar petroglyphs are located near Bidzar village, on the Maroua-Garoua road toward Guider. An area of marble flagstone extending around the village circa from north to south, and from east to west displays around 500 engraved figures in total. The marble is of a calcareous type called cipolin; it has an ideal composition for engraving, having low resistance to friction and breaking easily. Figures were engraved into the marble using a hammer and an engraving tool.

The name Stanergill can be read as meaning Stone Valley and much of Castletown was built during the 19th century boom years of Caithness as a source of flagstone. Much of the stone was processed in the harbour area of the village, known as Castlehill, and many of the streets of London, Sydney, Edinburgh and the financial district of New York City are paved with it. The harbour was built by James Bremner. Castletown's main building is the 'Drill Hall'.

The structure was constructed using organic materials indigenous to northwestern Arkansas including pressure-treated Southern pine and flagstone for the floor and surrounding wall. All of the wood was hand-rubbed with a grayish stain to blend with the bark of the surrounding trees and stone. The small ornamental roof skylight was later enlarged to provide additional natural lighting throughout the chapel. The chapel looks like an open-air structure, but is, in fact, an enclosed air-conditioned space that seats up to 100 people.

The right-hand arm of the cross leads into another long rectangular chamber with an L-shaped extension entered over a low sill, sometimes referred to as 'the annex'. In the townland of Diswellstown there is a historic "rag well" - a holy well near which rags were left. Although it still flows, it was "buried" by Dublin County Council, and its site is now marked by a carved flagstone. It used to be attended especially on the eve of May 1. A second holy well, dedicated to St Brigid is located near the Church of Ireland church in Castleknock village; its spring, still flowing, has been covered by a pump for many years.

In Orkney, the tombs became increasingly elaborate; the number of compartments reached a maximum of fourteen at the Knowe of Ramsay on Rousay. Unstan is a more modest example of the form with five chambers flanking a passageway in length. Like most tombs in Orkney, the original roof is gone, replaced by a modern concrete dome that protects the site. The remaining walls rise to a height of almost , and consist primarily of thin stacked slabs of local flagstone that come from the Devonian Old Red Sandstone.

For example, the townland of Lecks, on the Kingscourt road on the outskirts of Shercock, has been so named for a thousand years because of the flat-slabbed rocky landscape (leac is the Irish word for a flagstone). By the mid-nineteenth century, the village and immediate area had a population of about 5,000. However, the great famines and subsequent emigration affected the county of Cavan, reducing the population by 50% between 1841 and 1891. There were less than 300 people residing in Shercock by 1910.

Good Fellow Club Youth Camp is a historic summer camp and a national historic district located at Porter, Porter County, Indiana. The district encompasses nine contributing buildings, seven contributing structures, and one contributing site built by U.S. Steel for its employees' children. The contributing resources include the camp site with roadways and foundations of removed buildings, administration building (lodge, 1941), gate house and flagstone wall (1946), caretaker's house and garage (1941), pool house (1946), steel footbridge, steel swimming pool (1946), riflery (c. 1951), and tennis courts (1946).

Once open-aired, the pool was later covered by two longitudinal barrel vaults that spring from the side walls and connect on a wall running along the center of the pool pierced by a series of arches. This division is the source of another name given to the Struthion, the Twin Pools. The two vaults were built to support a large flagstone pavement that covered the area above the pool. This pavement features shallow channels that carried runoff water into the pool as well as masonry manholes.

At the ceremony, Ron Butlin, the Edinburgh Makar, recited a poem commissioned especially for the occasion. A fibro room added under a corner of the internal verandah was dismantled, its missing shaped support posts replaced in recycled hardwood, A wooden trapdoor discovered in this room cut into the flagstone floor was the old entrance to the cellar. The hinged door was in good condition but its frame decayed. A new support frame was insterted, carefully modelled on the original and a damp-proof course added between the two surfaces. Inside the house's main rooms some minor patch repairs, painting and cleaning was done.

Edna Linning and her husband started Gatton Bus Services in 1957 when they heard a high school was being built in town. Originally, the business only had one bus travelling to the college and back; since the mid-1980s, the business has 14 buses, eight of which are used for school children. The buses travelled to Flagstone Creek, Buaraba, Esk, and Forest Hill to pick-up students. The company also organized tours of Gatton for schoolchildren who lived in the city, so they could understand farm life and see how produce is grown and harvested.

A surviving portion of the original Minchenden House estate was redeveloped by the local authority (the Municipal Borough of Southgate which is now the London Borough of Enfield) into a remembrance garden. The garden was opened by the Mayor of Southgate and the local vicar on 12 May 1934. The garden contains lawns, hedges, shrubs and trees with flagstone paths and seating; fragments of the former 17th-century Weld Chapel are visible. The garden is entered via an iron gate in a red-brick wall on Waterfall Road, Southgate and is open daily until dusk.

Designed in a Mediterranean-style with red tile roof and blue trim, Ethel Moore Hall—which houses juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Located atop Prospect Hill, Ethel Moore was built in the late-1920s/early-1930s by Walter H Ratcliffe Jr. The flagstone entrance to Ethel Moore Hall connects to a downhill path into the center of campus. Ethel Moore also opens onto the Rhododendron Courtyard which is shared with Mary Morse and accessed through the building or through a garden gate. The newly renovated Olive Courtyard is accessed through the lobby.

The St. John’s Cemetery Chapel was converted from a storage shed into a chapel. The official ground breaking was in 2003, and the chapel was blessed in the fall of 2009. A small flagstone courtyard, flanked by stone benches leads to the chapel, whose exterior was finished to complement the exterior of St John's the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on East Second Street. Above the entrance hangs a small iron cross that was found on the property, which originally marked the burial site of an unknown Union soldier.

The Undullah is believed to be the word nandulla from the Bundjalung and/or Yuggera languages meaning the silver leafed iron bark (eucalyptus melanophloia). Henry Herbert Elliott was an early settler who raised cattle. Formerly in the Shire of Beaudesert, Undullah was split between Logan City and Scenic Rim Region following the local government amalgamations in March 2008. On 20 May 2016, the eastern part of Undullah (within Logan City) was excised to create the new localities of Flinders Lakes and Monarch Glen and part of the new locality of Flagstone.

The arbor leads to a large plaza with a flagstone star and a wall adorned with pottery tiles designed and fabricated by Liza Bach, a Tennessee crafter. Each tile is individually cast with the name of each state and a raised image of the foliage of the state tree. Although a complete trail system is planned to link all the individual plantings of state trees, as of 2004, only a small portion of the trail is complete, and most of the collection is not accessible to the handicapped.

Pistun is a small site that has in the past been considered larger than is actually the case due to natural hillocks being mistaken for the remains of artificial structures. Only two structures have been confirmed; a small altar platform with flagstone masonry and a long narrow structure. The site is situated defensively on a hill on the east side of Cerro El Apazote overlooking the Aguacate River. Projectile points were found scattered near the eastern entrance to the site and suggest that a battle took place there, which may have resulted in its abandonment.

The house is also situated on the crest of a hill and contains a terraced flagstone walkway leading from the street to the front door. The house's attached gable is inset into the hill at the basement level. The house is faced with random ashlar stones and has an opening that is stone-framed and arched segmentally; this opening is filled by wooden doors with small plain glass lights and metal strapping.

Vat of Kirbister, on the east coast of Stronsay As with most of Orkney, Stronsay is made up of Old Red Sandstone which has produced a fine soil in many places. It is generally low- lying. On the eastern coast, spectacular rock formations include the Vat of Kirbister – Stronsay's famous natural rock arch, often described as the finest in Orkney. The coast around Odiness Bay features numerous dramatic geos, caves, flagstone rock platforms and sea stacks, including Tam’s Castle, reputed to have once housed a hermitage on its flat summit.

The next regular appearances will be in 2021 and 2038. However, significant numbers of periodical cicadas, believed to be Brood X emergents that were four years early, appeared throughout the brood's range in 2000 and in the Baltimore, Maryland-Washington, D.C., area in May 2017. .

Also in 1947 they reconstructed the Studio, a traditional hewn-log building that was taken apart in Sweden, shipped to America, and reassembled for use as a rehearsal space. Flagstone paths and retaining walls were added later to tie the estate together. The Studio In his NRHP nomination, Jim Draeger states "the crowning jewel of Ten Chimneys is the finely decorated and furnished interior of the main house." The entry hall features marble tile, hand-painted murals on the walls, a porcelain Swedish stove, and a dramatic spiral staircase that leads to the second level.

The nature of the original roof is unclear; it may have consisted of flat slabs of flagstone at a height of or more. A seven bay skillion verandah runs the full length of the facade and along parapet side walls, timber posts rest on a flagstone floor. Replacement ground floor windows match the original upper storey windows. A two-storey wing, mimicking the scale and form of the original is located to the rear (northeast) of the original block and connected two it by a narrower two storey link. The building was restored throughout in the late 1980s, with obtrusive accretions removed and a large two-storey addition with beer garden and skillion verandah.

The House of the Kanevce family, another example of Ohrid traditional architecture The building of the first Robevi house was finished on 15 April 1827, as witnessed by the inscription on the marbled flagstone it is a traditional Ottoman Turkish house architecture. This famous Ohrid merchant family lived in the house for 35 years when between 1861–1862 a famous criminal from Ohrid Ustref Beg burnt it to the ground. Two years later, between 1863–1864 the house was rebuilt. It was divided in two parts: left and right.

There is evidence of Neolithic settlers in the area, and later legend has it that Fionn mac Cumhail's men sharpened their swords on the big limestone rock at Belleek Falls. (The flagstone, which gave its name to the area, was destroyed together with the falls during drainage works in the 1880s). A castle was built at Caol Uisce near Belleek at the entrance to Lower Lough Erne by Gilbert Costello in 1212. Belleek town in its present layout was founded on the Blennerhassett estate during the Plantation of Ulster in the early 17th century.

Located at the Dogwood Crescent the Circle of Friends is the heart of the grove. The Circle of Friends has over 1,500 names inscribed on its flagstone ground which represent lives lost to AIDS. If one wishes to inscribe a name into the Circle of Friends they must donate $1,000 to the memorial and the name will be inscribed before the Worlds AIDS day commemoration on December 1. Funded privately and tended by over 500 of volunteers, The National AIDS Memorial Grove remains an important sanctuary for remembrance.

More spectacular by its fitting than by the size of the stones, the harrespil is formed of a rectangular cist made of flat stones containing ashes of the dead, and of a stone circle. The circle measures about 5 to 6 m in diameter and is made of a great number of medium stones. The cist, of approximately a meter by 60 cm, consists of 4 side flagstones and a flagstone of cover. These burials coexisted with tumuli, a little earlier, also sheltering a cist for ashes, but surrounded of stones in bulk.

Darden Field is a historic baseball stadium that has been home to the Colorado School of Mines baseball teams since it was constructed in 1937. Featuring fieldstone stands with flagstone benches built into the hillside, the park was originally a Depression-era project of the Public Works Administration. Aside from hosting collegiate baseball, the diamond has also hosted notable visitors including pitcher Satchel Paige. Also notable were the poor conditions of the infield, as evidence among the players referring to bad hops as “the ghost of Jimmy Darden”.

One of these is contemporary, but the remaining two are re-used medieval grave monuments. Behind the present kirk is Tom nan Angeae, the hill of fire, where until the 19th-century hearth fires were renewed at Beltane and Samhain to encourage ancient gods to bring warmth to the land. St Angus was buried at the foot of this hill and a flagstone laid over him which stands today in the present church. This stone, formerly in the floor of the medieval church, has a crudely incised figure of a priest holding a chalice.

Dungeon Floor Plans is a package that contains twelve thick cardboard sheets, each printed (in color) to represent flagstone flooring (tan), rough stone and dirt flooring (grey), wood (brown) and stone stairways (grey). The sheets are gridded into squares, and the lines have been incorporated into the design. The squares are to scale for 25mm figures, each being just over 2 cm x 2 cm and representing an area 5' x 5'. The DM can cut the sheets to create a continuous series of rooms and corridors covering an entire table-top.

Three concrete steps with flagstone insets, partially covered by a wooden wheelchair ramp, lead to the front entrance. It consists of double wooden doors with a cast stone surround surmounted by a glass panel above the doors with "CONGREGATION BETH DAVID" reverse painted in gold letters on a black background. It is flanked by two sconces and tall, narrow round arched windows with a header course of bricks and cast stone lintels. Above the door is a wider round-arched double window with a blind transom and brick arch surround.

This is mainly used for parties, discos and small clubs such as the indoor bowls. The building that was used for these functions was the 'Traill Hall', a gift to the Village by the Traill family, owners of the flagstone quarry at Castlehill. Traill House, a large and imposing country home was the residence of the Traill family. It was located in the woods at Castlehill, in later years it was owned by the Crumb-Ewing family, it became derelict after WW2 and burned down in the late 1950s.

This stone was erected as a grave marker, with inscription in Primitive Irish, some time in c. AD 400–470, making it contemporary with Saint Patrick. Nearby is a flat stone named Lackshivaunnageelagh (Leac Shiobhán na nGeimhleach, "flagstone of Siobhán of the captives"), and there is a tradition of an old church at the strand and evidence for a graveyard found nearby. It originally stood in a field near the strand at Trabeg and was noted by Edward Lluyd in 1702; it was moved temporarily to Chute Hall about 1849 and now lies on a concrete base near its original location.

In 1987, his firm was acquired by Ellerbe Associates, and the merged firm continued as Ellerbe Becket until the end of 2009, when it was acquired by AECOM. It is now known as Ellerbe Becket, an AECOM Company. Becket's buildings used unusual facade materials such as ceramic tile and stainless steel grillwork, repetitive geometric patterns, and a heavy emphasis on walls clad in natural stone, particularly travertine and flagstone. With The Walt Disney Company and the United States Steel Corporation, Becket's firm co-designed Disney's Contemporary Resort, which opened in 1971 at Walt Disney World Resort.

The candle factory, a four-story building, still exists today, but the operation is believed to have stopped in the early 20th century. Quarrying on the moor south of the village reached a peak in 1890, when two stone slate quarries were in operation; Burtersett and Seavy. Although the men referred to themselves as quarrymen, both sites were actually mines which operated gauge tramways to transport the stone into the village. The stone was called slate, but it was a sandstone, typically used as a flagstone, but thicker beds were used as a building stone in the area.

During World War II the military training base Camp Cable was built between Logan Village and Tamborine, and included much of the land now part of Yarrabilba. Formerly in the Shire of Beaudesert, Yarrabilba became part of Logan City following the local government amalgamations in March 2008. In 2010, it was announced that Yarrabilba would be the location for a future city which is expected to contain 20,000 dwellings housing up to 50,000 people. Two other new urban centres were to be established at Greater Flagstone also in Logan City and Ecco Ripley in the City of Ipswich.

Over the two decades they had worked closely together, Wrigley and Renton had formed a close working relationship. Wrigley often referred to Renton as his "hands" in being trusted to carry out their plans, but they also shared a certain type of energy and enthusiasm for thinking ambitiously and creating something where nothing stood before. Renton's final construction project for his boss was to build the Wrigley Memorial. The plans for the tomb used Catalina materials, flagstone and tiles, in a magnificent 80-ft high resting place that is now a part of the Wrigley Botanical Gardens.

The construction of the cathedral lasted almost three centuries with the design and style evolving from Romanesque to Gothic as construction progressed. Religious cults and ceremonies had the objective to harmonize the people with natural forces. The Castro people had a great number of deities, but in the coastal area where the city is located, Cosus, a native deity related in later periods to the Roman god Mars, prevailed to such an extent that no other deities popular in the hinterland were venerated in the coastal region where Cosus was worshiped. The Milaca Municipal Hall or Milaca City Hall, located at 145 Central Ave, South in Milaca, Minnesota, United States, was built using fieldstone, brick, and concrete. The building is a typical example of construction performed by the Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression. One hundred fifty-five workers and six superintendents labored to construct the flagstone- faced municipal hall. The building provided space for the fire department and village council in the back of the building, for a library in the south end, and a community kitchen to the left of the entry adjacent to a 200-seat auditorium.

In 2010, it was announced that Ripley Valley, Yarrabilba and Greater Flagstone near Jimboomba would be developed as greenfield investments in response to the region's population growth which was expected to reach 4.4 million by 2031. The site had been earmarked for development within the South East Queensland Regional Plan which was released on 28 July 2009. The Ipswich City Council worked for a number of years to generate a Ripley Valley Structure Plan. The satellite city is planned to accommodate 120,000 people in 50,000 homes in the rapidly developing western growth corridor of South East Queensland.

Logan and Pratt formed the Albany Land Improvement Company and began selling by lots in 1881 after having laid out and paved tree-lined streets along with flagstone sidewalks, and laying water, sewer, and gas mains as well. Homes in the area were constructed by the Sano-Rubin Construction Company and the West End Building Company. These two companies also constructed many other homes throughout the city. Covenants in the deeds "forever prevent the use of the property for business purposes or the sale of intoxicating liquors" which predate the use of zoning in the city of Albany.

The Swaffham and Bottisham Drainage Commissioners were responsible for the lode from 1767, and were empowered to build staunches and collect tolls. The lode was never wide enough to take fen lighters, but smaller boats used it for most of the 19th century. In 1875, the Drainage Commissioners spent £294 on a flash lock, which had a flagstone floor, a chamber constructed of white bricks, a timber guillotine gate, and a mechanism for raising the gate made from cast-iron, supported by a timber frame. The chamber was wide, and the mechanism included a winding drum with winding wheel, and cogwheels with ratchets.

The grants were confirmed to Bishop John Maxwell by Charles I in 1633. Following the Reformation, the Abbey remained in use as a parish church, but disaster struck in 1742 when the flagstone roof collapsed during a service, killing nearly fifty members of the congregation. Though a new church was built adjacent to the ruined church, it too had fallen into a ruinous state by the early 1770s. As a result, part of the original ruined Abbey was rebuilt in 1772, and the Abbey again became the parish church as part of the established Protestant Church of Scotland.

The station was the central feature of the square for much of its existence. However, with the construction of the Espace Leopold (which now houses the European Parliament) starting in 1989, the character of the square changed significantly. Designs changed frequently, amidst much legal and political wrangling, but ultimately the tracks of the previously open air station were covered over by the flagstone mall that is now seen outside the parliament. The bulk of the station building itself was torn down in 2004, and rebuilt underground, leaving only the central entrance which now serves as an information office.

What remains today is only the "stone skeleton" of the original monument; originally it would have been covered with soil, and its flagstone capped by a cairn. When the site was excavated in 1986 and again in 1988, around 33 human remains, including those of adults, children (and the remains of a much later Bronze Age infant) were found buried underneath it, along with various stone and bone objects that would have been placed with them at the time of interment. Both the human remains and the burial objects date to between 3800 BC and 3200 BC.

The remaining three sides of the ground do not have any spectator facilities, although large lawned areas are situated behind both goals at the Newforge Lane end and Lagan End, allowing spectators to view games from behind both goals. The Lagan Meadows side of the ground contains only a narrow flagstone footpath but again spectators can view a game from here if they choose. The pitch itself is fully fenced off by a five-foot high barrier. There are no refreshment facilities as the football ground itself but the country club is situated fifty metres away and contains a bar and restaurant.

At a meeting of the Boulder Landmarks Board on May 21, 1977, architect James M. Hunter noted that from its inception, many of Boulder's citizens associated "Communist overtones" with the Floral Park project.Minutes Boulder Landmarks Board November 1978 The group held a drawing to decide which lot went to which family. The eight houses, largely built using salvaged brick from Boulder's recently demolished State Preparatory School (built in 1895 and located at 17th and Pearl), were constructed around the perimeter of the Commons. A small Commons shelter house with flagstone patio and rustic stone fireplace were soon added.

Capitalizing on the property's setting adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, the designers created a Beaux Arts-style structure with white walls, red tiles, French windows, lofty ceilings and other design details typical of the style at the time. The original roofing featured antique Spanish tiles sourced from Puerto Rico's older Spanish buildings. The floors and the public areas including the main staircase were decorated with marble and mosaics and the area between the ocean and the hotel building was developed to help the building withstand damage from the Atlantic coast. The hotel also featured a flagstone paved terrace.

The Spanish–American War Memorial is a memorial in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, in the United States that commemorates those American military personnel who died in the Spanish–American War. Constructed by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and dedicated on May 21, 1902, the memorial consists of a granite column in the center of a small grass-covered plaza. A granite sphere and bronze eagle with outstretched wings stand atop the shaft. The memorial faces west; to its rear across Lawton Avenue is a flagstone terrace on which are placed four cannon, aimed east.

The mall is largely light pink and white flagstone, with the southern segment broken by grassy areas running down its centre. It curves following the layout of the train station below and the Parliamentary buildings above built around the tracks. In the stone in the northern segment are engraved marble slabs in the ground commemorating the first meeting of the World Day to Overcome Extreme Poverty on 17 October 1987 in Paris. They are written in four languages and contains a quote from Joseph Wresinski and a commemoration of the 29 May 2002 follow up meeting in Brussels.

Amery Oasis with Beaver Lake in the center Beaver Lake is a lake of smooth ice, 7 mi long and 5 mi wide, enclosed on the south and east by Flagstone Bench and Jetty Peninsula. The lake is situated at the south end of an area of rough ice (a stagnant glacier), 17 mi ESE of Aramis Range, Prince Charles Mountains. Discovered by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) personnel in 1956. An Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) camp was established in the vicinity in September 1957 and the lake was used extensively as a landing area by Beaver aircraft.

She also created a smaller scale version of the Inwood monument, fashioned between 1921 and 1922, and cast in bronze in 1922; Whitney used this version as a model for the final structure displaying the soldier, the sailor, and the marine. The fence to the property on the Antill and Collett Street sides is a cyclone mesh fence between galvanised steel posts and rails. The Doonies have the benefit of a flat push to Albert Street, while the Uppies have a hard push up to the top of Tankerness Lane. The game may also go down one of the flagstone lanes, or down Castle Street onto the open Junction Road. Once there either side may gain the upper hand by means of a smuggle and run, or the scrum may become immobile in one of the many closes and yards. However, if the Uppies manage to enter Victoria Street, or the Doonies Albert Street, the opposition have a much harder time, due to the narrowness and the press of often many hundreds of keen spectators.

That can easily be visible with the discovered structures in the East that present a strong defensive system that reaches 5.30 metres (17 feet 5 inches) wide. While in the Northeast, the wall was constructed using natural granite that only was crowned by a wall of rocks. The entrance that interrupted the wall was paved with flagstone with about 1.70 metres (5 feet 7 inches) of width. The defensive perimeter seems to include a ditch of about 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches) of depth and width in base of the hill, as it was detected while a house was being built in the north of the hill.

Curative powers were also ascribed to earth coming from the saint's grave. The prerogative of administering it to visitors belonged to the Machan (Maughan) or Loughney family, presumably because the family was known to descend from the erenachs (wardens) of the church. A flagstone at the saint's grave known as Leac Cuimín (The stone of Cuimín) is thought to have been used as a 'cursing stone' under similar guidance: members of the Machan (Maughan) or Loughney Lavin, History and legends of the Civil Parish of Kilcummin, p. 20 family could be asked to perform a ceremony to call down maledictions on people who had caused harm to others.

In 1836 Hull Trinity House built a lighthouse at Paull, then between the shipyard and town. Lit by oil lamps, initially it displayed a fixed white light; in 1852 a red sector was added to help guide vessels around the nearby Skitter sandbank. In 1870 Paull lighthouse was replaced by two sets of leading lights: one at Thorngumbald Clough and the other at Salt End. Thorngumbald Clough Low Light is constructed of a wrought iron frame approximately high on a high brick and flagstone base, the Thorngumbald Clough High light is of a similar design; the low light is painted white, the high light red.

A tridilosa, in the ceiling of the Terminal Central de Autobuses del Norte, Mexico Tridilosa is a very light and resistant, materials-efficient 3-D structure, made from steel and concrete and widely used in civil engineering. Tridilosa was invented by the Mexican engineer Heberto Castillo. Among the most remarkable features of this structure is that it can save up to 66% on concrete usage and up to 40% on steel, because filling with concrete is not required in the tension zone, only in the superior compression zone. It is so light that it can float on water, but is three times stronger than traditional construction flagstone.

Near the Struthion Pool, Hadrian built a triple-arched gateway as an entrance to the eastern forum of Aelia Capitolina.Benoit, Pierre, The Antonia of Herod the Great, and the East Forum of Aelia Capitolina (1971) Traditionally, this was thought to be the gate of Herod's Antonia Fortress, which itself was alleged to be the location of Jesus' trial and Pontius Pilate's Ecce homo speech as described in . This was due in part to the 1864 discovery of a game etched on a flagstone of the pool. According to the nuns of the convent, the game was played by Roman soldiers and ended in the execution of a 'monk king'.

The name of the city comes from the French word dalle, meaning either "sluice", akin to English "dale" and German T[h]al, "valley", or "flagstone", referring to the columnar basalt rocks carved by the river (in voyageur French used to refer to rapids), which was used by the French- Canadian employees of the North West Company to refer to the rapids of the Columbia River between the present-day city and Celilo Falls. Also in the same area was the Petite Dalles or Little Dalles, or Short Narrows. In French, "Les dalles" means "The slabs". When a river flows over hard flat rocks, it becomes shallow, and rapids are created.

It was demolished in 1971 to make way for a new visitor center, which has itself been replaced. The architecture of these buildings is characterized by rubble stone and shingle- clad walls, gabled roofs with clipped ends, flagstone floors some places, and peeled log posts as internal supports. and The three surviving museums, along with the now-demolished Faithful Museum of Thermal Activity, were designed by Herbert Maier, an architect employed by the American Association of Museums and the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Foundation. The remains of the drystone well house are east-west by (originally) north-south. Three steps descend into the building from the east into a square chamber with a flagstone floor and four diagonal stone seats in each corner. A narrow opening and steps lead into the rectangular well chamber, east-west by north-south, with recessed semi-circular seats at each side. An outer external well chamber roughly square contains the well itself, and is separated from the internal well chamber by a drystone wall, which includes a stone slab with circular grooves cut in its upper and lower edges to allow water to flow between the two chambers.

The Web Long House and Motel is a historic former motel complex on the north side of United States Route 63, just east of Springwood Road, on the outskirts of Hardy, Arkansas. The complex includes three buildings: a single-story stone house, which also served as the office for the motel, a duplex located just to its east, also built of flagstone, and a four-unit stone motel building facing south. The complex was built in 1943 by Web Long, president of the Hardy Development Council, as a home for his family and a business serving travelers. It is one of the earliest known examples of motel architecture in Sharp County.

In conjunction with researchers from Istanbul University, in 1964 they discovered in Çayönü a farming community, dating from 7250 to 6750 B.C., which contained what they described as the earliest known building—a stone structure with a smoothed flagstone floor that apparently served a community function. In 1970, the team uncovered a second building, containing a terrazzo floor made using a technique thought to have been invented by the Romans 7,000 years later. In 1984, they found a third structure filled with burned fragments of human skulls that might have been the product of a mysterious rite. The researchers also uncovered cold-hammered copper tools, including small pins and hooks.

Two flagstone doring (inscribed pillars) outside the temple, flanking its north and south entrances, are worshiped by Tibetans. The first monument, a March 1794 edict known as the "Forever Following Tablet" in Chinese, records advice on hygiene to prevent smallpox; some has been chiseled out by Tibetans who believed that the stone itself had curative powers. The second, far older, pillar is high with a crown in the shape of a palace and an inscription dated 821 or 822. The tablet has a number of names; "Number One Tablet in Asia", "Lhasa Alliance Tablet", "Changing Alliance Tablet", "Uncle and Nephew Alliance Tablet" and the "Tang Dynasty-Tubo Peace Alliance Tablet".

A curving staircase made from marble links the house to the bottom of the terraces, descending through the Flagstone, Evergreen and Pool terraces to the Flower Garden at the bottom. The latter is planted along the lines of a color wheel in a style closely resembling that of Gertrude Jekyll. From the Flower Garden, a long avenue of Bald Cypresses (planted between 1921–25) leads to a large fountain and a teahouse that the Sharps used for lunches and to entertain guests. The gardens and statues were restored in 1998–99 by Rodney Robinson Landscape Architects with the support of the Sharp family, who provided the restorers with Coffin's original plans from 1916.

Other populous suburbs include Beenleigh, Rochedale South, Meadowbrook, Springwood, Woodridge, Eagleby and the rural towns of Jimboomba and Logan Village The city facilitates much of the transport between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Its motorway network is extensive: in the city's north-east, the Logan Motorway joins the Pacific Motorway, while the Mount Lindesay Highway and Sydney–Brisbane rail corridor cross the city along a roughly central north- south axis. New developments are common, particularly those being built at Yarrabilba and Greater Flagstone, while Griffith University has already established a Logan campus in Meadowbrook which is being developed into a specialist area based around health, research and education. In 2016, Luke Smith was elected mayor of Logan.

Chair 1 had a wooden ramp, covered with snow, that skiers had to side- step up to reach the chairs. Sometimes skiers would lose their balance and cause several of the skiers in line below to topple over like dominoes. The ramp was removed sometime in 1980s and a new high-speed Chair 1 was installed and renamed "Broadway Express." The original main lodge was expanded and to this day, the upper part of the old exterior rock wall mural, with a white and brown flagstone arrow and skier, can be seen. By 1973, under McCoy's leadership, the ski area grew to 14 double-chairs, and a second base lodge originally named Warming Hut II was built.

Bourlon wood is seen in the background of Flesquières Hill British Cemetery. Situated in a park, on land donated by the Comte de Franqueville, the Mayor of Bourlon at the War's end, the Canadian Bourlon Wood Memorial site is located at the end of the 'Avenue du Monument' in the southwestern corner of the village of Bourlon. The park is a beautiful series of terraces lined with ancient lime trees that were nursed back to health after having been shattered by shellfire during the battle for Bourlon Wood. The grey granite block monument is set at the top of the hill in a glade of lawn upon a low circular flagstone terrace.

The play consists of two long parts, one concerning the deeds and miracles of Saint Kea, and the other concerning King Arthur's conflicts with the Romans and with his nephew Mordred. The Arthurian section is longer, and is largely adapted from some version of the account in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae. The lost beginning of the play probably recounted the events of Kea's early life, such as his birth to a noble family, his election as bishop, and his subsequent abdication in favour of life as a hermit. The extant text begins with Kea's resurrection of a deceased shepherd and his departure for Cornwall by either boat or flying flagstone.

The Dunblane Commemoration standing stone In the nave of Dunblane Cathedral is a standing stone by the monumental sculptor Richard Kindersley. It was commissioned by the Kirk Session as the Cathedral's commemoration and dedicated at a service on 12 March 2001. It is a Clashach stone two metres high on a Caithness flagstone base. The quotations on the stone are by E. V. Rieu ("He called a little child to him..."), Richard Henry Stoddard ("...the spirit of a little child"), Bayard Taylor ("But still I dream that somewhere there must be The spirit of a child that waits for me") and W. H. Auden ("We are linked as children in a circle dancing").

As the building has been reconstructed in the course of history, only the middle nave retains its original architectural form. It terminates in a protruding semicircular apse on the east and exaggerated engaged pilasters in the interior of the building create arched bays in between. The inner walls were once fully frescoed; the badly damaged 13th–14th-century depictions of the Mandylion, saints and inscriptions survive in the altar apse; fragments of a royal portrait and two scenes of the Doomsday are visible in the northeastern and northwester pilasters, respectively. A small flagstone in the south wall of the altar bears a carving in relief, depicting two laymen standing en face, with a pedestalled cross in between them.

The acropolis was surrounded by three rings of walls, and within those walls diverse types of buildings existed, including funerary enclosures, which are extremely rare in the Castro culture world. At its peak, the acropolis had 12 hectares (30 acres) and was inhabited by several hundred people. In the archaeological works carried through the beginning of the 20th century, the Cividade seemed to have a disorganized structure, but more recent data suggests instead an organization whose characteristics stem from older levels of occupation, which had been ignored during the first archaeological works. Each quadrant of the town is divided into family nuclei around a private square, which are almost always paved with flagstone.

The Crosely's Mediterranean Revival-style house, auxiliary garages, and living quarters for staff were designed by New York architect George Albree Freeman Jr., while Ivo A. de Minicis, a Tampa, Florida, architect, drafted the plans. The property in the southwest corner of Manatee County included the mansion with its porte-cochere entry, flagstone patio and walkways, a swimming pool, fountains, a seaplane dock, and a yacht basin. Some reports stated that Paul W. Bergmann, a Sarasota contractor, built the two-and-a-half-story, cast stone and stucco home for the Crosleys in 135 days. The home served as a "fish camp," used mostly in the winter, but staff would remain throughout the year.

When Bres is overthrown and Nuadu restored, Ogma is his champion. His position is threatened by the arrival of Lugh at the court, so Ogma challenges him by lifting a great flagstone, which normally required eighty oxen to move it, and hurling it out of Tara, but Lugh answers the challenge by hurling it back. When Nuadu hands command of the Battle of Mag Tuired to Lugh, Ogma becomes Lugh's champion and promises to repel the Fomorian king, Indech, and his bodyguard, and to defeat a third of the enemy. During the battle he finds Orna, the sword of the Fomorian king Tethra, which recounts the deeds done with it when unsheathed.

The flagstone patio runs across the entire front of the house and extends beyond the exterior walls on both sides. Dramatic large windows fill almost the entire southwestern elevation; overlooking the creek, this wall of windows is sectioned into three bays by prominent stone buttress- like thick walls that extend beyond the windows. When viewed from the side, the building is in the form of a trapezoid where the southwest and northeast elevations are tapered with a wider base with a seven degree slope. The roof is distinctive, formed by a series of four horizontal diamond shapes supported on pillars, appearing to float above the structure, with scuppers that protrude horizontally between each ridge.

The houses were very basic, built of stone with only one room downstairs and one room upstairs. The downstairs unusually had raised timber flooring instead of flagstone because of the dampness of the underlying earth, they are all fitted with an inglenook style fireplace that stands on a stone hearth with exposed beams to the ceiling and access to the upper floor via a ladder. Water was supplied by one stand pipe on the opposite side of the road to West Row, but there was no sewerage means provided. The chapel was a small building that stood on its own between the first house of West Row and White Kirkley farm and was of similar build to the houses.

Kehoe, usually pronounced , and originally spelled MacKehoe is an Irish surname that stems from several distinct septs in Ireland. The most notable branch were from southeastern Ireland in the province of Leinster and are descended from Brandub mac Echach, King of Leinster, in the 6th century AD. This branch were the Chief Filí of Leinster up until the 17th century and inaugurated the Kings of Leinster upon their stone called Leac Mhic Eochadha, or in English, Kehoe's flagstone. Another unrelated and separate branch, descends from King Domnall Mór Ua Cellaigh of the O'Kellys of Uí Maine, who died in 1221. Many of their descendants have emigrated to America and have spread throughout that part of the world.

Even the maximum restraint cells were requisitioned for temporary use. Throughout the asylum, rooms were crudely adapted to act as operating theatres, radiography departments and pharmacy stations. Contemporary photographs show, however, that the hospital retained some of its pre-war character, and the wards are strewn with large potted plants and ornate furnishings, though little could disguise the hard deal tables, the flagstone floors and the high windows with their cast-iron glazing bars. Stanley Spencer, the painter who served as a medical orderly in 1915–1916, can be glimpsed in one of these photographs – a diminutive, slightly dishevelled figure in an ill-fitting tunic, surrounded by long avenues of beds, each separated by large, ungainly wooden lockers.

Her mother cooked everything from scratch and despite Laudan not being forced to help her mother cook, or her father with the farm-work, she grew up surrounded by the food processes of farm to fork. A much repeated memory during interviews with Laudan tell of her father experimenting with grinding wheat to make his own flour. He removed the husks and then attempted to grind the grains by pounding with a pestle and mortar, followed by feeding the wheat through a meat grinder and eventually striking it with a hammer on a flagstone floor. However, Laudan was drawn more towards history as a subject, which she attributes to her awareness of "living in history" while growing up.

The defense of the communication ditch was based on the barricade built between Krucza St. and Marszalkowska St. Civilians from nearby townhouses actively helped in the barricades construction. The task of breaking ground with pickaxes between houses No. 17 and 22 turned out to be extremely difficult. The tramway tracks had to be blown up using dynamite, which was in little supply already. The underground railroad posed even a bigger problem – its concrete ceiling was impossible to breach with simple pickaxes, that's why sandbags and flagstone were used to fortify most of the barricade. Those fortifications were systematically destroyed by German mortar fire, “Goliaths” and air support. The “Kilinski” Battalion worked on the southern part of the ditch.

Bolton Woods Quarry Bradford Dale consists largely of coal measures (of the Pennine Lower Coal Measures Formation) with hard sandstone beds in certain areas. The hard millstone grit which is renowned across the north becomes more widespread further up the Aire Valley, but certain areas within Bradford Dale were good locations for sandstone flags, such as the quarries at Bolton Woods. The quarries around Bolton Woods were known for producing the renowned Elland Flags, which could be used as flagstone, ashlar, building stone, kerbs, roof tiles, paving stone and as a source of crushed stone. Elland Flags sandstone quarried at Bolton Woods has been used in the construction of the town halls in Bradford, Leeds and Manchester.

The Rockefeller family bought Sunnyside from the Irving family in 1945, restored it and opened it to the public as a historic house museum in 1947, eliminating the original need for the memorial. In 1985, a cleaning project restored the original appearance of much of the stonework and bronze, and in the late 1990s the original flagstone flooring was replaced with concrete, since the memorial and its benches had come to be used as a waiting area for local bus service. New York's Department of Transportation installed a standard at the corner to support a traffic light, essentially recreating the obstruction to the view of the memorial by southbound traffic that the original designers had hoped was gone with the removal of the telephone pole.

Together with poet Gunnar Ekelöf, she translated works of Swedish literature into French, but her own poetry was never issued as a volume during her lifetime. “The story of the cliffside path/Will be a path that licks the flagstone/Will lift its hand toward the iron/ Path to the broken porch shelter of the pursued/ night came morning gone/toward the gentle flock and the boat sleeping/ against the temple of the riverbank.”, an excerpt of her poem, translated from French, that originally was in Le Surrealisme ASDLR.. Greta Knutson committed suicide in Paris in 1983 but her works, influence, and legacy will live on forever.

Dillon Gymnasium (1947) at Embury's alma mater, Princeton University In 1947, Embury designed the Dillon Gymnasium for Princeton University after the previous gymnasium was destroyed in a fire. The eastern shore of Conservatory Water in Central Park in Manhattan, New York City, contains the Kerbs Memorial Boathouse, designed by Embury, where patrons can rent and navigate radio-controlled and wind-powered model boats. The 1954 boathouse, in picnic Georgian taste with red brick and a green copper hip roof and steeple, outside of which is a flagstone patio, houses resident model sailboats as well as the radio-controlled model yachts of the Central Park Model Yacht Club. He remained active throughout the 1950s, turning over his firm to his son, Edward Coe Embury, in 1956.

The intact terraces and deposits allowed the archaeological study to address the internal technological structure of the mill, a historical dimension rarely recovered archeologically, since technological equipment was normally removed from mill buildings prior to their demolition or collapse. A limited recovery was done on an area of the site that could not be saved; however it seemed to be part of a domestic situation, rather than for primary industrial use. Currently, the terraces and the old flagstone foundations remain standing near the Rottenwood Creek Multi- Use Trail on the waterway. The modern suburban edge-city of Cumberland has developed nearby, and Akers Mill Road remains its namesake but now intersects with Cumberland Boulevard on the hill above, to the northwest.

A common puzzle throughout the game involves stacking pieces of a standing stone, called a "Flagstone", in order to open doors. Players also get the chance to stack on top of a Mogoth to cross razor-sharp stone pathways, as well as ride among monstrously huge spiders and ladybugs in order to access some areas. The DS version of the game consists of playing a series of mini-games and raising pet mul-muls that can interact with those from other people's games.

Cooper, c. 1910 (PRONI) The locale was home to a group of northern Celts known as the Orighella as far back as the fourth century when the territories of Owen (later Tír Eoghain) and Connail (later Tír Chonaill - mostly modern County Donegal) were established, and Orighella were assimilated into the Cenél Conaill. With the arrival of Saint Patrick, a mission established a church in the area near Castlefin, and having visited the Grianán Aileach for the conversion of Owen, returned along the Foyle river, establishing a further church at Leckpatrick (the name means 'the flagstone of St. Patrick'). A later church was established at Lifford/Clonleigh by a mission headed by St. Colmcille.

Fort Santo Angel was a Spanish fortress on the island of Guam, now a United States territory. Located on a promontory on the west coast of the island in the northernmost part the Umatac Bay in Umatac, the fort's remains are among the oldest known Spanish-era structures on the island; a fort is documented to have been standing here since 1742, and to still be in use in the early 19th century. The fort provided protection for the anchorage used by Spanish galleons on the trade route between Manila (then in the Spanish East Indies) and Acapulco, Mexico (then part of New Spain). Perched on a monolith, there remains a plaza of flagstone surrounded by a manposteria (coral mixed with cement) wall high and thick.

The Clark brothers divided the land again, George taking East Talgai and Charles taking the western portion, on which the Old Talgai homestead had stood. In 1874 Charles Clark constructed his own home, Ellinthorpe Hall (the third Talgai) on this western portion of the run and this homestead later became known as "West Talgai". Charles Clark left Talgai in 1890, the western portion of the land eventually being subdivided for closer settlement with the homestead falling into decay and the sandstone blocks from the ruins of the homestead being used to construct a modern home at Flagstone Creek. When George Clark secured the eastern portion of the Talgai run in 1865 the only structure on the land was an old shepherd's hut.

A lesser-known fact about the Long Room is that, above the bay, between its ceiling and the room above, exists one of the two remaining priest holes or hiding places, dating back to the house's time as a private residence in the period of Recusancy, when Jesuits and other Catholic priests were hunted by the authorities. The other hiding place is in the gatehouse, approached up a false chimney. Another was located in the Duchess' Rooms before they were pulled down to make way for the Arundell Library wing; it was hidden behind a bookcase, opened by a secret spring. A fourth was under a flagstone in the original washing place, and a further hidden behind a false beam nearby.

Sign at the entrance to the Gruta de la Virgen. There is a popular myth surrounding the former casino which tells of "underground caves" between the Gruta de la Virgen (also known as the Gruta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes; Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes) and the building, crossing Agustín Ross Park. During the restoration of the building, in December 2007, it was reported that "two great walls constructed with flagstone, very wide and very close together" were found, but nothing was confirmed afterwards. Before the former casino building was completed, in 1908, Agustín Ross Edwards and Evaristo Merino reported to historiographer José Toribio Medina the existence of indigenous remains in the cave now called the Gruta de la Virgen.

The main part of Golden is laid out upon a historic street grid system running on an approximately northwest–southeast axis, aligned with Clear Creek upon which the heart of the city was established. Most of these are paved streets with a total 66-foot right of way, including area for sidewalks which in older areas are often separated by a landscaped strip from the street featuring beautiful and historic trees. The only historic street in the grid not named "street" is the main thoroughfare, Washington Avenue, an 80-foot right of way featuring a downtown care streetscape with trees, planters, brick, flagstone and ornamental street lights. Golden's streets are generally numbered on the east–west streets, and named on the north–south streets, and are named after pioneers, American Indian tribes and trees.

The Julian Street Jr. residence is still extant. By 1974, the house was owned by Howard and Janette R. Tomkins and the property was subdivided to allow a separate building lot. Other changes were the removal of the stone wall and guardrail by the driveway, which was then paved with asphalt, and building a playhouse at the top of a rock pile in front of the house. The house was also changed: the stone wall behind the house was extended into a curve while the front gravel walkway was retained, the ramp behind the serpentine wall had stairs added to it, a curved wall was added in front of the front door, and a flagstone terrace was added to the back and side of the west part of the house.

Gardens. Virginia House is set in carefully planned landscape gardens, which contain a diversity of plants and plantings. Virginia Weddell hired the noted landscape architect Charles Gillette in 1927, and over some twenty years he built more than of scenic gardens containing close to 1,000 types of ornamental plants—from formal spring displays to wisteria, roses, and sprawling hydrangeas that drape balconies and garden rails. The first phase of the plan was to create an informal Tudor-style garden on the original site that the Weddells purchased for the house site, using a steeply sloping southern hillside by creating interconnecting cascading ponds, flagstone walkways and terraced garden beds. In 1932, the second phase reworked the original concept by overlaying a cross- axis and planting further beds for flowers such as tulips and iris.

Despite a sparse population Weydale covers a large area of the farming land south-east of Thurso, which is mainly used for grazing of livestock. Within the area are four former flagstone quarries, which despite no longer producing the stones are now noted for the excellent preservation of the fossil fish Osteolepis. Weydale was previously served by a small primary school, which was created more for a local gypsy settlement, who, up until the early 1900s, were banned from entering Thurso and settled in the area. The former school and the quarries are part of a number of sites and buildings within Weydale that hold some historical significance, however a more modern bungalow, "Stoneybank", made the news when originally built as at that time its west-facing side contained Britain's largest single-pane window.

The 'Brooding Soldier' column rises from a low circular flagstone terrace and is sculpted at its top to form the bowed head and shoulders of a Canadian soldier. The soldier's hands resting are on the butt of his down-turned rifle in the 'arms reversed' position, a pose used as gesture of mourning and respect for the fallen performed at funerals and services of remembrance. Surrounding the column and central terrace are gardens of tall cedars trimmed into the shape of artillery shells and low cut cedars trimmed to look like shell explosions. Some of the soil that nourishes the gardens of the memorial was brought from various locations from across Canada to represent the broad spectrum of Canadian men who fought shoulder to shoulder on the battlefields of 1915.

The name was formally registered in English as Death Rapids on December 12, 1939, but rescinded on April 3, 1986, upon the inundation of the site by the reservoir. Joseph Trutch's 1870s map uses the mistaken "Dalle des Morts". A dalles is a term from French as used by the voyageurs in the Pacific Northwest, adapted from the usual meaning of dalle as a flagstone, or in other contexts as a gutter on a ship's deck or bridge for the purpose of draining excess water. The context of "river rapids" does not turn up in French dictionaries, but appears to be a local variation on the usual meanings, a pun on the staircase-like stones underneath some rapids and also on the rapidly draining narrow chutes that typify a "Dalles".

Outside of the flagstone pedestrian walks, which include a number of platforms and underground parking from the 1960s and 1970s, the Établissement public pour l'aménagement de la région de la Défense (EPAD) reserved two areas destined to hold two future Métro stations on the axis intended to be served by the line. La Défense – Michelet and Élysées – La Défense are situated under the neighbourhood of Michelet and the apartment building Élysée Défense, respectively. However, as a result of the planning for the expansion, which was not completed until the 1990s, the complexity and the cost of an under-river crossing in this area was judged to be too prohibitive to complete. Instead, the crossing of the Seine was achieved by passing over the pont de Neuilly, and not in a tunnel as had previously been planned.

Portage Park is known for the flagstone decoration all over its grounds Portage Park was not only the site that gave the area its name, it created the neighborhood by bringing together what had been several distinct communities that were populated by a slew of diverse ethnicities. The park came into being in 1913 when area residents formed an independent park board called the Old Portage Park District. The name of the new park district is a reference to the route that ran along what is today Irving Park Road that had once been used by Native Americans and fur traders to portage their canoes between the Des Plaines and Chicago Rivers. The original plan for Portage Park was drawn up by American Park Builders Company who were also responsible for the initial construction that took place between 1913 and 1917.

Cannobio lakefront The large lakefront piazza named after King Victor Emmanuel III was given a major refurbishment when in the winter of 2003–04 it was completely relaid in cobblestones and granite slabs. Also added was of a set of wide flagstone steps down to the lake, where people may sit and watch the lake steamers come and go from the landing stages nearby, and the sailing boats and wind-surfers skimming across the lake. Some of the buildings both on the lakefront and further back in the old part of town date back over 600 years, from when Cannobio was a renowned smuggling town, and most of these have been restored in fine style. From one, Giuseppe Garibaldi addressed the people of Cannobio in 1859, and on another stands a plaque celebrating an important event in Cannobio in 1627.

Blyth Homestead is of heritage significance to the Northern Territory due to its architectural and social significance. The remains consist of the homestead building itself which is a single room, cypress pine and corrugated iron structure encircled by verandahs; a flagstone floor; a scatter of corrugated iron, sandstone blocks and other metal objects; and a set of stockyards constructed using bush timber poles and barbed wire The homestead was established in 1928 to function as an outstation on Stapleton Station, then owned by Harry Sargent and his family. It was constructed using bush timber (cypress pine) and iron in the form of a large central room that could be closed up with verandahs around the edges. Blyth Homestead is one of the few existing examples of this type of building which was formerly common on NT pastoral leases.

Part of the archeological site South of the Santa María de la Asunción Museum on Vicente Guerrero Street is the archeological zone of Ixcateopan. The site has been dated from between 350 and 1450 C. E. with at least five construction stages, three of which are dated from between 1350 and 1450 C.E. Although construction seemed to have ceased after 1450, it is known that the site was occupied up until the Spanish arrival in 1521. The archeological zone is formed by a series of constructions over a natural elevation and occupied about 5,000 m2/square meters (approximately 1.24 acres). Local materials were used in its construction: flagstone, limestone, marble and smooth pebble which were covered in stucco and painted. This excavated complex was dedicated to religious ceremonies, administrative activities and the local hierarchy’s relations with the rest of the world.

The home is a stunning, extremely rare example of a FLLW Usonian home based on dynamic hexagonal geometry - all angles are either 60 or 120 degrees. Invisible from the street (save for its handsome gate) and tucked into a woodland meadow setting with a stream and multiple ponds and waterfalls running along its private landscaped entry, this hidden sanctuary is 20 miles/45 minutes door- to-door from midtown Manhattan. The home's centerpiece is a massive triangular living/dining space with prow-like wood-burning fireplace, an astonishing sculptural inverted truss pyramidal ceiling unlike anything seen in any other home designed by FLLW, and dramatic illuminated clerestory windows with perforated motifs that relate to the 'Scherzo' name of the home. Fourteen full-length french doors allow sunlight to pour in, swinging open onto two terraces and a flagstone in-ground heated swimming pool sparkling in the backyard oasis.

Hill 62 Memorial Visitor's Book Cabinet The Hill 62 (Sanctuary Wood) Memorial site is located on the top of a hill known to British Great War soldiers as 'Torr Top', the top of which offers a clear and commanding view of Ieper, just over three kilometres (1.86 miles) away. The vantage point clearly illustrates the strategic significance of the position and thereby the importance of the Canadian Corps accomplishment in wresting it and the territories surrounding it from the German Army in June of 1916. The entrance to the memorial is found at the end of the Canadalaan (Canada Lane) which runs south from the N8/Meenseweg road running from Ieper to Menen. The memorial park is made up of a beautiful series of three terraced gardens leading up the hillside to the manicured lawns at the summit where the grey granite block monument sits in a grassed circle on a low flagstone terrace.

Initially slated to be released in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, the economic crisis in Argentina obliterates the economic movement of Sony in Bolivia, and nearby countries. Consequently, the new material was not distributed. Octavia terminated their contract with Sony and in 2003 independently produced the album “Octavia al Aire libre” (Octavia in Open Air), their first live album featuring their greatest hits from 15 years of work. In 2004 Octavia spent 6 months in Oklahoma, USA and cut a new album called “Talismán”. The album was produced by Tyson Meade - chief of “Chainsaw Kittens” - under Flagstone Records. On 2005 the band promoted the album “Talismán” all over Bolivia, performing a series of notable concerts such as their appearance in Paceña's FestiMusic in Santa Cruz and La Paz, along with bands such as Ataque 77 (Argentina) and Kumbia Kings (USA). In the first months of 2006 the band planned the release of “Talisman” in Argentina.

Searchlights were introduced, initially manned by police. By mid-1916, there were 271 anti-aircraft guns and 258 searchlights across England. Aerial defences against Zeppelins were divided between the RNAS and the Royal Flying Corps (RFC), with the Navy engaging enemy airships approaching the coast while the RFC took responsibility once the enemy had crossed the coastline. Initially the War Office had believed that the Zeppelins used a layer of inert gas to protect themselves from incendiary bullets, and favoured the use of bombs or devices like the Ranken dart. However, by mid-1916 an effective mixture of explosive, tracer and incendiary rounds had been developed. There were 23 airship raids in 1916, in which 125 tons of bombs were dropped, killing 293 people and injuring 691. Nine Zeppelins were sent to Liverpool on the night of 31 January – 1 February.

The Meeker Hotel is the only historic hotel still standing in the northwest corner of Colorado. Its unique brick façade adds a picturesque quality as does its rounded glass bays on each side of the main building. The front of the building has a wide balcony overlooking Main Street, the native flagstone courthouse built in 1935, and one of the original barracks used during the time of the Meeker Massacre (now the White River Museum). “Even if you are just passing though, stop off at this old hotel and take a look around the restored lobby. Once inside, your every move is watched by the beady glass eyes of elk, buffalo, long-horned sheep, deer, [coyotes, foxes, and porcupines] mounted on the walls.”.Colorado Guide; Bruce, Caughney; Fulcrum Publishing;115 Within the hotel, guests are greeted with original rustic pine floors and a multitude of fine world-class deer and elk mounts.
