The group's debut album Let It Enfold You was released in September 2004, and was a commercial success, going on to sell over 600,000 copies. In September 2005, guitarist Heath Saraceno, formerly of Midtown, joined the band, replacing Dave Miller. Between November and May 2006, the band wrote material and demoed songs for their next album. They would spend 8–10 hours a day writing.

Bluebird (Miranda Lambert song) is claimed to be the first country song inspired by Charles Bukowski to reach No. 1. Senses Fail is an American post-hardcore band that formed in Ridgewood, New Jersey, United States, in 2002. Formed by vocalist James "Buddy" Nielsen, drummer Dan Trapp, guitarists Garrett Zablocki and Dave Miller, and bassist James Gill (later replaced shortly by Mike Glita); the band has seen many lineup changes, with Nielsen being the only consistent member. The lineup currently consists of Nielsen, bassist/guitarist Gavin Caswell and drummer Steve Carey, together with bassist Greg Styliades and guitarist Jason Milbank. The differences between the culture of the Australian-Scottish Presbyterians and the Reformed Netherlanders was a hindrance, but the real problem was the liturgical restrictions where no instrumental accompaniment was allowed and only psalms were sung. The Dutch migrants struggled to find churches in Australia which embraced and upheld Biblical and Reformed theology, with a national profile that could enfold these new settlers, and was governed according to reformed tradition. For these reasons, in December 1951, they organised a separate denomination, initially composed of Reformed Churches in Sydney, Penguin and Melbourne. The new denomination held their first Synod in June 1952 in premises owned by the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia at East St Kilda.

Washburn entered Harvard's graduate program with the intention of pursuing a doctorate in zoology. His focus shifted to anthropology after being induced to attend an introductory seminar on the subject led by his freshman advisor and close family friend Alfred Tozzer. Finding the mixture of archaeology, customs and human evolution stimulating, he joined the physical anthropology program led by Earnest Hooton where he was able to enfold his zoological coursework such as comparative anatomy and paleontology in his approach to the study of human evolution.
