The circadian rhythms of individuals with non-24 can resemble those of experimental subjects living in a time-isolated environment even though they are living in normal society. The circadian clock modulates many physiological rhythms. The most easily observed of these is the propensity for sleep and wake; thus, people with non-24 experience symptoms of insomnia and daytime sleepiness (similar to "jet lag") when their endogenous circadian rhythms drift out of synchrony with the social/solar 24-hour day, but they conform to a conventional schedule. Eventually, their circadian rhythms will drift back into normal alignment, when symptoms temporarily resolve.

The experiment of adding a child to the cast was partially influenced by the network as well, since ABC's TGIF lineup was wishing to incorporate the child-and-preteen demographic into its audience. While the content of Perfect Strangers could often appeal to the family as a whole, it had never had children in the regular cast. A similar infusion happened a few months later on sister show Going Places, which had also started with a more adult tone. The strike was, in fact, already falling apart, particularly in the South, where local government refused to provide any relief assistance to strikers and there were few sympathetic churches or unions to provide support. Although the union had pledged before the walkout began to feed strikers, it was wholly unable to fulfill this promise. While roughly half of the textile workers in North and South Carolina and roughly three fourths in Georgia were on strike at this point, with similar figures in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, workers had started to drift back to work and struck plants were reopening, if with only skeleton crews. There are more workers out today than there have been at any moment since the strike began". However, the National Sailors' and Firemen's Union applied for an injunction in the Chancery Division of the High Court to enjoin the General-Secretary of its Tower Hill branch from calling its members out on strike. Mr Justice Astbury granted the injunction by ruling that no trade dispute could exist between the TUC and "the government of the nation"Lee S. J. 1996 Aspects of British Political History 1914–1995 p 90] and that except for the strike in the coal industry, the general strike was not protected by Trade Disputes Act 1906.

Video Hits One likewise began as an outlet for adult contemporary music before transitioning to an urban pop culture channel as VH1; Country Music Television drifted to southern culture and general rerun programming as CMT; and The Nashville Network, perhaps the most dramatic, drifted to general entertainment format as The National Network and then to a heavily male-oriented program lineup known as Spike, only to drift back toward general entertainment in 2015 and become the Paramount Network in 2018, which is slated to become Paramount Movie Network in 2021.

At Metacritic the album holds a score of 80 out of 100, which indicates "generally favorable reviews", based on 18 reviews. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic said that Rewind the Film is "achieving an appealingly woozy, early- hours-of-the morning vibe", giving the album a score of 4/5, concluding with "Occasionally, Nicky Wire's lyrics drift back toward free-floating angst -- "my ecosystem is based on hatred" is a line that feels perpetually adolescent—but the combined effect of the sometimes tortured words and the gentle, never-conflicting currents of folk, anthemic rock, cinematic instrumentals, and mannered pop create a welcome impression of a group that acknowledges that they've entered a comfortable middle age but are happy to fight against complacency however they can." Clash magazine also reviewed Rewind the Film very positively, giving the album a score of eight out of ten stars.
The concept was that Mango's sexual appeal was irresistible to anyone regardless of gender or sexual orientation, including males who are ostensibly heterosexual, a joke that was typically effected by making his admirer in each sketch the celebrity guest host of that episode (who was usually male). Women who also fell under his spell included Ellen DeGeneres, his high school sweetheart played by Gwyneth Paltrow, and his suburban wife, portrayed by Molly Shannon. The host would then become obsessed with Mango, and their thoughts would increasingly drift back to him at inopportune times (such as when they are with their children and families) until they couldn't resist any longer. The sketches would usually revolve around Mango being backstage at one of his "shows" (which appeared burlesque in nature) and the host would visit him, wanting to woo and make love to him, but Mango would resist until the host was driven insane.
