Even large airliners avoid crossing the path of a cumulonimbus. Two dangerous effects of cumulonimbus have been put forward to explain the crash of flight AF447 that sank into sea on the 31st of May 2009 about northeast of Brazil. It encountered a mesoscale convective system in the intertropical convergence zone (known by sailors as the "doldrums"), where cumulonimbus rise to more than in altitude. However, the aircraft did not disintegrate in flight.

Passing York Minster, it skirts round the north and west sides of the city walls before leaving the city on the west bank of the River Ouse. Turning west away from the river, the path goes through the satellite villages of Bishopthorpe and Copmanthorpe before picking up the route of the old Roman road between Eboracum and Calcaria. Following a planning revision, an S-Bahn line was created that alternates between single and double track, running between Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof and Nuremberg-Eibach to the west and between Nuremberg-Reichelsdorf and the terminus at Roth to the east of the main line. The state government committed $6.6 million to construct a second carriageway between Beechboro Road North and Drumpellier Drive, and an additional $14 million to complete the remaining up to Alexander Drive which took place between 2013 and 2015. The works involved installing traffic lights at the intersection with Beechboro Road North, which was the site of 131 accidents during the five-year period to 2010, and rated fifth in the RAC’s 2012 list of Western Australia’s worst intersections. Just to the south of the oval barrow, crossing the path leading to the car park, another earthwork was investigated and was found to be a cross-ridge dyke about 140 m long across the southern end of the narrowest part of the ridge. Its date is uncertain, but the excavators considered that it might be a late Bronze Age boundary. The ancient trackway known as the Icknield Way, which ran from the Wash to Wessex, passed through the parish. It here consisted of two separate tracks, the Upper Icknield Way and the Lower Icknield Way, supposedly for winter and summer use respectively, though Christopher Taylor suggests that the upper route follows the prehistoric track, while the lower route was a Roman road which followed the same general line but on flat land more suitable for Roman methods of road construction.
