Chirr is a Sino-Tibetan language spoken by the Chirr Naga (Yimchunger) community in northeast India. It is related to other Yimchungrü language and is sometimes considered as a dialect of the Yimchunger tribe.

The territorial calls have been transcribed as "kwaak … kk, kwaa..kk". A contact call of "kee yah, kee…yah" is given when the male brings food to the female at nest. The alarm calls is a "chirrur… chirrur, chirr…chirr" while a begging "kee…k, kee…k" calls is made when young or females seek food.

The Chirr tribe is one of the Naga tribes that mostly resides in Nagaland, India. They are listed as a Scheduled Tribe, in the official Census of India. However, due to lack of official recognition from Government of Nagaland are considered sub-tribe of Yimchunger tribe.

The chirr or chirrup sounds like a meow rolled on the tongue. It is commonly used by mother cats calling their kittens inside the nest. Kittens recognize their own mother's chirp, and do not respond to the chirps of other mothers. It is also used by friendly cats when eliciting the approach of another cat or a human.

Contact calls are described as chirr or kerr; these calls are repeated quickly to form a rattling alarm call. Studies have found that early-arriving males occupy the best breeding territories. A study in Nottinghamshire, England, showed that a third of males which returned bred within 50 m or less of their previous breeding site, and only 14% bred further than 400 m away. Another study conducted in the Nida River valley in Poland showed that individual males tend to show the biggest shifts in territory location in the first two seasons of life (up to >400 m).

Miles Raymer of Entertainment Weekly commended Banks for her "sonic ambition and willingness to risk alienating a pop audience with Goddess gloomy, tweaky beats". Tshepo Mokoena of The Guardian noted that Banks "lays her emotions bare, at times almost embarrassingly so, sounding raw and vengeful when she belts—and a bit like Fiona Apple in the chirr of her upper vocal register", concluding that although the songs "Someone New" and "Under the Table" "sink into nondescript ballad territory", Goddess is otherwise an "accomplished debut".
