One subtype of DNA microarrays can be described as substrates (nylon, glass, etc.) to which oligonucleotides have been bound at high density. There are a number of applications of DNA microarrays within the life sciences.

During the diplotene stage, also known as diplonema, from Greek words meaning "two threads", the synaptonemal complex disassembles and homologous chromosomes separate from one another a little. However, the homologous chromosomes of each bivalent remain tightly bound at chiasmata, the regions where crossing-over occurred. The chiasmata remain on the chromosomes until they are severed at the transition to anaphase I to allow homologous chromosomes to move to opposite poles of the cell. In human fetal oogenesis, all developing oocytes develop to this stage and are arrested in prophase I before birth.
In the mid-1960s, the role of tRNA in protein synthesis was being intensively studied. At this point, ribosomes had been implicated in protein synthesis, and it had been shown that an mRNA strand was necessary for the formation of these structures. Nathaniel Mountain is a mountain ridge that runs southwest northeast through Hampshire County in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle, rising to its greatest elevation of above sea-level. The mountain is bound at its western flank by the South Branch Potomac River and to its eastern flank by South Branch Mountain . SORCER is a computing platform that allows the end user to program dynamic front-end compound services, called exertions, bound at runtime by the SORCER OS (SOS) to federations of service providers as new back-end dynamic services. The front-end services created by the end users are service collaborations of users' applications, tools, and utilities with their data and corresponding control strategies. Santa Rosa Junior College art student Kim Wendy Allen, 19, was given a ride by two men on March 4, 1972, from her job at Larkspur Natural Foods to San Rafael. They last saw her at approximately 5:20 pm hitchhiking to school near the Bell Avenue entrance to Highway 101, northbound, carrying a large wooden soy barrel with red Chinese characters on it. The rate of the twin field protocol was shown to overcome the repeater-less PLOB bound at 340 km of optical fiber; its ideal rate surpasses this bound already at 200 km and follows the rate-loss scaling of the higher single-repeater bound (see figure 1 of for more details). The protocol suggests that optimal key rates are achievable on "550 kilometers of standard optical fibre", which is already commonly used in communications today. This college had been founded in 1525 by Cardinal Wolsey, Henry VIII's Lord Chancellor. John Taverner was employed as Master of the Choristers at Cardinal College from 1527 until 1530, and it is possible that the partbooks were begun and bound at the college under his influence. Masses 12–18 are in the handwriting of William Forrest and an inscription in the contratenor book reveals that he owned all the books in 1530.
In the mid and late 2000s, Franklin appeared in nearly a dozen staged readings in the Greater Los Angeles area with Classic and Contemporary American Playwrights (CCAP), which she founded in 2001 with her sister Judy. On February 10, 2003, the skeletal remains of a young, possibly teenage, white female were discovered wrapped up inside of a rug inside of a layer of concrete, in the basement of a nearly-abandoned apartment building in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, New York's west side. She had been bound at the hands and feet and strangled to death. The post mortem interval was difficult to assess with the body encased in concrete, leaving investigators to believe that she may have been died anywhere between 1970 and 2003. She was estimated to be between 15 and 21 years old and was 5 feet 1 inch tall.

In molecular biology, origin recognition complex (ORC) is a multi-subunit DNA binding complex (6 subunits) that binds in all eukaryotes and archaea in an ATP-dependent manner to origins of replication. The subunits of this complex are encoded by the ORC1, ORC2, ORC3, ORC4, ORC5 and ORC6 genes. ORC is a central component for eukaryotic DNA replication, and remains bound to chromatin at replication origins throughout the cell cycle. ORC directs DNA replication throughout the genome and is required for its initiation. ORC bound at replication origins serves as the foundation for assembly of the pre- replication complex (pre-RC), which includes Cdc6, Tah11 (a.k.a. Cdt1), and the Mcm2-Mcm7 complex.
After graduating, Atwell's stage debut came in 2005 with the production of Prometheus Bound at Sound London, starring David Oyelowo, followed by Women Beware Women at the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 1958, Daniel Koshland suggested a modification to the lock and key model: since enzymes are rather flexible structures, the active site is continuously reshaped by interactions with the substrate as the substrate interacts with the enzyme. As a result, the substrate does not simply bind to a rigid active site; the amino acid side-chains that make up the active site are molded into the precise positions that enable the enzyme to perform its catalytic function. The first atomic structures of the ribosome complexed with tRNA and mRNA molecules were solved by using X-ray crystallography by two groups independently, at 2.8 Å and at 3.7 Å. These structures allow one to see the details of interactions of the Thermus thermophilus ribosome with mRNA and with tRNAs bound at classical ribosomal sites. Interactions of the ribosome with long mRNAs containing Shine-Dalgarno sequences were visualized soon after that at 4.5–5.5 Å resolution. In 2011, the first complete atomic structure of the eukaryotic 80S ribosome from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was obtained by crystallography. The model reveals the architecture of eukaryote- specific elements and their interaction with the universally conserved core.
In this structure, exact architecture of which is still unclear, two res sites are intertwined in such a way as to juxtapose two copies of site I, allowing resolvase dimers bound to each site to form a tetramer. Again, it is the interaction between the resolvase dimers bound at accessory sites (sites II and III) and resolvase at site I that causes the two dimers to synapse and form a tetramer. After the tetramer is formed it becomes activated and the top and bottom DNA strands are simultaneously cleaved in the middle of the site I with a 2bp overhang. The strand exchange ensues by as yet unknown mechanism with a resulting net rotation of 180°.
Hemodialysis can be used to enhance the removal of salicylate from the blood, usually in those who are severely poisoned. Examples of severe poisoning include people with high salicylate blood levels: 7.25 mmol/l (100 mg/dl) in acute ingestions or 40 mg/dl in chronic ingestions, significant neurotoxicity (agitation, coma, convulsions), kidney failure, pulmonary edema, or cardiovascular instability. Hemodialysis also has the advantage of restoring electrolyte and acid-base abnormalities while removing salicylate. Salicylic acid has a small size (low molecular mass), has a low volume of distribution (is more water soluble), has low tissue binding and is largely free (and not protein bound) at toxic levels in the body; all of which make it easily removable from the body by hemodialysis.
Britain was obliged to assist Greece by the Declaration of 13 April 1939, which stated that in the event of a threat to Greek or Romanian independence, "His Majesty's Government would feel themselves bound at once to lend the Greek or Romanian Government... all the support in their power." When attacked by Rick and Daryl later, Jesus is able to physically defend himself, displaying impressive combat abilities, though he surrenders when they threaten him at gunpoint. Jesus is bound at his wrists and ankles and left at the side of the road but in seconds is able to free himself and climb onto the truck unobserved.
Participants are chosen from a creative community of San Francisco Bay Area artists ranging from those in the fine arts and multi-media to photographers, poets and writers. The goal of the Artist in Residency is to raise awareness of book arts as a vital genre in contemporary art, to bring fresh perspectives to the field, and to support artists in their vocation. Residency artists share their skills, processes and perspective through public lectures, workshops and by welcoming volunteer participation in the production of their editions which are printed and bound at the SFCB. The Residency hosts one artist (or artist team) per year, and concludes in December with a signed and numbered artist's book project issued in trade edition and deluxe edition versions.

A group at DuPont postulated that both Ang II and the Takeda leads were bound at the same receptor site. These two substances served as lead compounds for further optimization of AT1 receptor blockers. Using nuclear magnetic resonance studies on the spatial structure of Ang II, scientists at DuPont discovered that the Takeda structures had to be enlarged at a particular position to resemble more closely the much larger peptide Ang II. Computer modeling was used to compare S-8308 and S-8307 with Ang II and it was seen that Ang II contains two acidic residues near the NH2 terminus. These groups were not mimicked by the Takeda leads and therefore it was hypothesized that acidic functional groups would have to be added to the compounds.

Under the CEP agreement, New Zealand goods currently entering Hong Kong SAR at a zero tariff will be bound at that level, and remaining tariffs will be progressively reduced to mirror those in the New Zealand–China Free Trade Agreement. Over a three-day period between June 22 and 24, 2007, Chris Benoit, a 40-year- old Canadian professional wrestler employed by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and living in Fayetteville, Georgia, killed his wife Nancy Benoit and their 7-year-old son, Daniel, before hanging himself. Autopsy results showed that Benoit's wife was murdered first as she was bound at the feet and wrists and died of asphyxiation on the night of June 22. On June 25, Nancy was found wrapped in a towel with blood under her head, although Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard reported no other signs of a struggle. The couple's son, Daniel Christopher Benoit, also died of asphyxia, killed as he was lying sedated in his bed on the morning of June 23.
In 2016, Satti founded fonés, a female a cappella group performing traditional polyphonic songs from all over the world. Satti and fonés have performed at venues such as the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, the Odeon of Herodus Atticus, the Athens Concert Hall, and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, collaborating with numerous artists including Phoebus Delivorias, Dimitris Kalantzis, Nikos Kypourgos, George Dalaras, Pavlos Pavlidis, and Dionysis Savvopoulos. In the summer of 2018, they performed the role of the chorus of the Oceanids in the tragedy Prometheus Bound at the Little Theater of Ancient Epidaurus. In September 2018, fonέs performed at the United Nations Champions of the Earth Awards in New York while in November of that same year, they performed at the flame lighting ceremony of the 36th Athens Classic Marathon.
A Chinese bamboo book Before the introduction of books, writing on bone, shells, wood and silk was prevalent in China long before the 2nd century BC, until paper was invented in China around the 1st century AD. China's first recognizable books, called jiance or jiandu, were made of rolls of thin split and dried bamboo bound together with hemp, silk, or leather.Lyons 2011, 18 The discovery of the process using the bark of the mulberry to create paper is attributed to Ts'ai Lun (the cousin of Kar-Shun), but it may be older. Texts were reproduced by woodblock printing; the diffusion of Buddhist texts was a main impetus to large-scale production. The format of the book evolved with intermediate stages of scrolls folded concertina-style, scrolls bound at one edge ("butterfly books") and so on.

Hugh Everett did not mention quantum suicide or quantum immortality in writing; his work was intended as a solution to the paradoxes of quantum mechanics. Eugene Shikhovtsev's biography of Everett states that "Everett firmly believed that his many-worlds theory guaranteed him immortality: his consciousness, he argued, is bound at each branching to follow whatever path does not lead to death".See Eugene Shikhovtsev's Biography of Everett: Keith Lynch remembers 1979–1980 Peter Byrne, author of a published biography of Everett, reports that Everett also privately discussed quantum suicide (such as to play high- stakes Russian roulette and survive in the winning branch), but adds that "[i]t is unlikely, however, that Everett subscribed to this [quantum immortality] view, as the only sure thing it guarantees is that the majority of your copies will die, hardly a rational goal." Even the maps, of which Tolkien originally proposed five, were considered and debated. He wished Thror's Map to be tipped in (that is, glued in after the book has been bound) at first mention in the text, and with the moon letter Cirth on the reverse so they could be seen when held up to the light. In the end the cost, as well as the shading of the maps, which would be difficult to reproduce, resulted in the final design of two maps as endpapers, Thror's map, and the Map of Wilderland (see Rhovanion), both printed in black and red on the paper's cream background. Originally Allen & Unwin planned to illustrate the book only with the endpaper maps, but Tolkien's first tendered sketches so charmed the publisher's staff that they opted to include them without raising the book's price despite the extra cost.

With respect to s198A(3)(i); It was not enough for Malaysia to have allowed the UNHCR to undertake refugee protection assessment procedures; without providing for those procedures at domestic law or being bound at international law to do so. Similarly, Malaysia could not be found to provide protections of the kind described in (ii) or (iii) unless its domestic law expressly dealt with refugees, or was internationally obliged to protect refugees. Survive To Fight is the title of a British Army publication which details the use of NBC protective equipment and other procedures to be carried in the event of an attack with nuclear, biological or chemical weapons. So far five editions have been published (and two reprint runs); the first three of which are in the form of a ring-bound manual with a plastic cover, and the last, Edition 5, is a 82 page loose leaf TAM insert (6 hole ringbinder). Edition I (AC71388) covers the use of the S6 Respirator and Mk.III NBC suit and overboots, Edition II (1990) (reprinted in 1992 with colour photographs on cover) featuring the S10 Respirator and Mk.IV suit and overboots which were introduced since. A professional group of booksellers in Leipzig decided to form their own association in 1824, and in 1825 the became the first group to publish outside of the printer's guilds, leading to more people joining the profession without needing to be attached to a guild. Despite the fact that Hunt was never fully conversant with the Tamil tongue and had to rely upon translators, he printed an improved edition of the Bible in Tamil, a Tamil grammar, and Winslow's dictionary of Tamil, as well as numerous Christian devotional works in English, Tamil and Telugu, such as The Bazaar Book, or Vernacular Preacher's Companion (1865). Miron Winslow, the head of the mission for 30 years, had died in 1864, and in 1866 Hunt sold the press to the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge for 40,000 rupeesChandler, John S. (1912).
This is a modestly large value, consistent with a distance of a few hundred light-years. WDS 07291+3147 C is itself listed as having a companion, the magnitude 13.20 WDS 07291+3147 D. Relative to WDS 07291+3147 C its separation has remained at about 100 arcseconds between 1909 and 2001, indicating similar proper motion. It is therefore most efficient in metabolizing 5(S)-HETE to 5-oxo-ETE and, with somewhat lesser efficiency, in metabolizing other 5(S)-hydroxyl-6-trans unsaturated fatty acids such as 5(S)-hydroxy- eicosapentaenoic acid, 5(S)-hydroxy-eicosatrienoic acid, 5(S)-hydroxy- eicosadeinoic acid, 5(S)-hydroxy-eicosamonoenoic acid, 5(S)-hydroxy- octadecadienoic acid, 5(S),15(S)-dihydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid, and the 6-trans isomer of leukotriene B4 (which is a 5(S),12(S)-dihydroxyeicosatetraeonic acid) to their corresponding oxo analogs. 5-HEDH has relatively little ability to oxidize 5(S)-hydroxyl-tetradecadienoic acid, the R stereoisomer of 5(S)-HETE (5(R)-HETE), or a racemic mixture of 8-HETE, and does not oxidize 12(S)-HETE, 15(S)-HETE, leukotriene B4, a racemate mixture of 9-HETE, a racemate mixture of 11-HETE, or a 5(S)-hydroxy-6-trans 12 carbon dienoic fatty acid.
